Diemert&#8217;s RBI groundout scored Fisher for a 13-0 lead at the end of the half inning.<\/p>\n<p>Lorgian Steuben came home on a Dakota State error for UJ&#8217;s 14th and final run of the game.<\/p>\n<p>The Trojans scored twice in the the bottom of the fifth and had runners on second and third before <a id=\"rosterLink11\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/11\/9801\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/11\/9801\" data-original-title=\"\">Katie Merchant<\/a> (SO\/South Haven, Minn.) (3-1) retired the final two batters to end the game.<\/p>\n<p>Merchant went the distance, allowing two runs on five hits and struck out four.<\/p>\n<p>Prussia was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and scored twice. University March 5-7.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Men&#8217;s Volleyball<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p><strong>SIOUX CITY, Iowa (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/article\/5842\">UJ<\/a>) &#8212;\u00a0<\/strong>The seventh-ranked University of Jamestown men&#8217;s volleyball team swept both of their matches Saturday at the GPAC Classic, defeating Ottawa (Kan.) 25-18, 25-13, and 25-21; and Morningside (Iowa) College 25-14, 25-11, and 25-10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#7 Jamestown 3, #15 Ottawa (Kan.) 0<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Jimmies fell behind 10-4 against the Braves in set one, but went on a 17-4 run to take control. The Jimmies hit .579 in the set, compared to just -.036 for Ottawa, taking advantage of nine attack errors by the Braves. UJ made just one error in 19 attempts, finishing with 12 kills.<\/p>\n<p>In set three, Jamestown led 9-5 only to have Ottawa score seven straight and go ahead 12-9. With the set tied at 17, the Jimmies went on a 3-0 run and gradually began to pull away. Two kills by <a id=\"rosterLink3\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/38\/10352\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/38\/10352\" data-original-title=\"\">Austin Jacob<\/a> (FR\/Houston, Texas) and an Ottawa attack error were the match-clinching points.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rosterLink4\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/38\/10360\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/38\/10360\" data-original-title=\"\">Derek Owens<\/a> (FR\/Andover, Minn.) had 10 kills and hit .615 for the match. Jackman added nine kills, Huynh seven, and Cox six. Cox hit .400 on 10 attempts and posted a team-high eight digs.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rosterLink5\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/38\/10349\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/38\/10349\" data-original-title=\"\">Derek Correa<\/a> (FR\/Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) passed out 32 of UJ&#8217;s 35 assists. Jacob finished with five block assists while Correa and Owens each had three total blocks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#7 Jamestown 3, Morningside 0<\/strong><br \/>\nUJ wrapped up their weekend trip with a sweep of Morningside College, winning 25-14, 25-11, and 25-10.<\/p>\n<p>The Jimmies hit .552 for the match, making just three errors in 58 attempts. The Mustangs hit just .016 and had 19 errors to go along with 20 kills.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rosterLink6\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/38\/10361\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/38\/10361\" data-original-title=\"\">Clark Steele<\/a> (JR\/Lake Forest, Calif.) led the offense with 12 kills, and <a id=\"rosterLink7\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/38\/10360\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/38\/10360\" data-original-title=\"\">Derek Owens<\/a> was also in double figures with 10. University.<\/p>\n<p>Beringer went 2-1 at 141 pounds to finish third. He lost his first match to Edrich Nortje of Hastings (Neb.), but came back with a 16-5 decision over Conner Dalton of Midland (Neb.) and a 5-3 decision over Morningside (Iowa)&#8217;s Noah Styskal in the third place match.<\/p>\n<p>Macias responsed with four straight wins at 285 following his opening match loss. Macias picked up a win by medical forfeit, then pinned Dakota Wesleyan&#8217;s Kyle Mullaney in 2:08 and defeated Matthew Wilke of Briar Cliff (Iowa) by 14-1 major decision. In the third place match, Macias pinned Midland&#8217;s Matt Johnston in 3:26.<\/p>\n<p>Carrillo (133) lost to Trey Schuck of Northwestern by fall in 5:29 in the fifth place match. Carrillo pinned Concordia (Neb.)&#8217;s Carter Willis in 1:36 and won by medical forfeit to stay alive in the consolation semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>Toedter lost a 6-3 decision to Austin Hendrickson of Northwestern in the fifth place match.<\/p>\n<p>Women&#8217;s Basketball&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MITCHELL, S.D\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/article\/5844\">UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 .&#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><a id=\"rosterLink0\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/2\/9732\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/2\/9732\" data-original-title=\"\">Kia Tower<\/a> (SO\/Bigfork, MN) scored 23 points and made five three-pointers in helping lead the University of Jamestown women&#8217;s basketball team to a 75-69 win at Dakota Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Jimmies will be the eighth seed in the GPAC postseason tournament and will face top-seeded Morningside (Iowa) College Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown led 17-11 after one quarter behind five points each from Tower and <a id=\"rosterLink1\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/2\/9723\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/2\/9723\" data-original-title=\"\">Emma Stoehr<\/a> (SR\/Woodbury, MN). Stoehr&#8217;s three-pointer with 50 seconds left in the quarter gave UJ its biggest lead of nine points.<\/p>\n<p>UJ went cold in the second quarter, making just three of 13 field goal attempts, and Dakota Wesleyan managed cut Jamestown&#8217;s lead to just two heading into halftime.<\/p>\n<p>Tower put the Jimmies ahead by seven with a three-pointer at the 6:32 mark of the third. The Tigers scored 10 straight points over a 2:59 span for a 44-41 lead.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rosterLink2\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/2\/9737\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/2\/9737\" data-original-title=\"\">Macy Savela<\/a> (SO\/Mountain Iron, MN) and Tower hit back-to-back three-pointers, and the next possession saw Tower drive to the bucket for a layup that gave UJ a 49-44 lead with 1:50 to play in the third.<\/p>\n<p>After the Tigers got within a bucket at 49-47, Tower&#8217;s half-court heave at the third-quarter horn was good, extending Jamestown&#8217;s lead to five entering the final 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>DWU got as close as two points twice, the second time coming on Rynn Osthus&#8217;s free throws that made it 57-55 with 6:40 left. On the next trip down the floor, Savela knocked down another three, then Tower and <a id=\"rosterLink3\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/2\/9730\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/2\/9730\" data-original-title=\"\">Hannah DeMars<\/a> (SO\/Grand Rapids, MN) scored on consecutive possessions, giving UJ a nine-point lead.<\/p>\n<p>Savela came off the bench to score 16, making 4-of-6 three-point attempts. Stoehr was also in double figures with 14. DeMars added nine points and eight rebounds.<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s Basketball&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p><strong>MITCHELL, S.D.\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/article\/5847\">UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 &#8212;\u00a0<\/strong>A cold-shooting first half put the University of Jamestown men&#8217;s basketball team in a hole, and the 21st-ranked Jimmies were unable to recover in a 77-70 loss to Dakota Wesleyan University.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown ends the regular season 18-7 overall and 14-6 in the GPAC, earning the third seed in the conference postseason tournament. UJ will host Dordt (Iowa) in the GPAC quarterfinals on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>After <a id=\"rosterLink0\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/1\/9469\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/1\/9469\" data-original-title=\"\">Brock Schrom<\/a> (SR\/Grand Rapids, MN) drew the Jimmies level at 21\u00a0with 6:10 in the first half, Dakota Wesleyan scored 12 straight points over a 2:42 span to take a 33-21 lead. DWU pushed the lead to 15 just before the half, but <a id=\"rosterLink1\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/1\/9476\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/1\/9476\" data-original-title=\"\">Cole Woodford<\/a> (FR\/Redwood Falls, MN)&#8217;s three-pointer with three seconds left cut the lead to 12.<\/p>\n<p>UJ shot just 33 percent (11 for 33) in the first half, and made just four of 16 (25 percent) three-point attempts.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rosterLink2\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/roster\/21\/1\/9475\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/21\/1\/9475\" data-original-title=\"\">Mason Walters<\/a> (SO\/Jamestown, ND) scored to open the second half and brought the Jimmies within 10.
