This Day In History, March 1, 1966 \u2013 Trinity Hospital closes it\u2019s doors.\u00a0 \u00a0. . . .\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0from the 125th Anniversary Calendar of Jamestown History & Jamestown Regional Medical Center website.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Trinity locked its doors and the remaining equipment and patients were moved to Jamestown Hospital. The new arrangement gave the community a facility with 127 beds. Nine months later, Jamestown Hospital agreed to serve as a teaching hospital for students at North Dakota State School of Science.\u00a0 A 12-month practical nursing program began here on December 26, 1966.<\/p>\n

\"\"Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called about 4:39-p.m. Sunday,\u00a0 to a report of smoke coming from the former Wagner’s Tire Service building\u00a0 at the corner of 10 Avenue SW and 17 street SW, next to NAPA auto parts.<\/p>\n

City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says, when the units arrived at the scene firefighters entered the building through the thick smoke. It was discovered that there was a vehicle fire in the building.<\/p>\n

He says Ladder 1 was at the scene to provide the truck’s hot spot detection system, that determine that the truck inside the building was the origin of the fire.<\/p>\n

He says the damage was extensive to the truck. The building had fire and smoke damage.<\/p>\n

Six city fire units and\u00a0 25 firefighters were on the scene, along with Jamestown Police, and Jamestown Area Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n

Valley City\u00a0 (NDHP)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u00a0 Investigate a two vehicles crash Saturday about 12:50-p.m.at the intersection of North Dakota Highway 1 and Barnes County 22.<\/p>\n

Valley City Rural Fire District Chief Scott Magnuson reported one individual was extricated from one of the vehicle at the scene. Three individuals were taken to Mercy Hospital in Valley City by the Barnes County Ambulance, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

\"\"Valley City (VCPD) Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher on Friday afternoon reported that as of that time the Thursday evening shooting incident in Valley City was still under investigation.<\/p>\n

He said it appears that both parties involved in this incident knew each other and no known threat exists to the general public.<\/p>\n

The victim, a 31 year old Valley City resident is recovering in a Fargo hospital.<\/p>\n

The suspect, 26 year old Alex Morridian from Valley City has been arrested and is awaiting a formal appearance in Barnes County District Court, charged with Attempted Murder, a Class A Felony, for which a maximum penalty is 20 years in prison a $20,000 fine, or both may be imposed.<\/p>\n

Valley City (VCPD) The Valley City Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday evening around 7-p.m., in the 500 block of 11th Avenue SW.<\/p>\n

Police Chief Phil Hatcher says, \u201cOfficers quickly responded and assisted in securing the area and providing medical assistance to a male that had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso.\u201d<\/p>\n

The wounded person was taken by Barnes County Ambulance to CHI Mercy Hospital and later to a medical facility in Fargo. The suspect was taken into custody. There is no current threat to the public.<\/p>\n

No other information will be released at this time until investigations are complete. More details will be reported Friday.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The daily COVID-19 update posted by North Dakota health officials remained largely unchanged since Saturday, with no new deaths or hospitalizations due to the coronavirus. Officials confirmed 31 new cases, increasing the total number of positive tests to 99,809 since the start of the pandemic. The COVID Tracking Project reports that one in every 1,377 people in North Dakota tested positive in the past week. The rolling average number of daily new cases in the state over the last two weeks has remained mostly constant at about 79 per day. Project researchers say North Dakota ranks 46th in the country for new cases per capita in that span.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 State data shows nearly 10% of residents in North Dakota have completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. According to data from the North Dakota Department of Health, nearly 70,000 people in the state, or 9.5% of the population, have received the full two-dose series. More than 126,000, or 17.3%, have received the first dose. North Dakota reported three additional COVID-19-related deaths on Saturday, bringing the state’s death toll to 1,445 since the pandemic began. Another 71 cases were confirmed, for a total of 99,780 cases overall. Meanwhile, the North Dakota Department of Commerce announced $20 million in grants to help the state\u2019s hotels, motels and lodging businesses that lost revenue due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Chamber Executive, Kay Vinjee says that now, the maximum amount that can be\u00a0 purchased is $1,000, up from $500, and the Chamber Bucks can now be purchased by each family member.<\/p>\n

Bismarck (CSi)\u00a0 \u2013\u00a0 The North Dakota Department of Commerce Friday announced that $20 million in grant funds are available for round two of the Hospitality Economic Resiliency Grant PLUS which will be open for applications on March 9 at 10 a.m. CST<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Hospitality\u00a0Economic\u00a0Resiliency\u00a0Grant PLUS\u00a0expands the Hospitality Economic Resiliency Grant\u00a0(HERG)\u00a0to\u00a0provide\u00a0funding\u00a0for the accommodation sector which\u00a0includes hotels, motels, lodges, and resort establishments.\u202fThe Hospitality\u00a0Economic\u00a0Resiliently\u00a0Grant\u00a0PLUS is intended to assist the state\u2019s hotels, motels and lodging businesses who have been impacted by loss of revenue due to low occupancy rates\u00a0as a\u00a0result of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The grant is not intended for private vacation rentals or\u00a0bed-and-breakfasts who rent rooms, apartments, condos or homes to the traveling public through online marketplaces.\u00a0Extended stay hotels\u00a0that\u00a0offer rooms for an ongoing nightly basis are eligible\u00a0but,\u00a0those who only serve long-term stays defined as 30 days or more are not eligible.<\/p>\n

Eligible facilities may apply for up to $40,000. Applicants with more than one facility may apply for up to $80,000\u00a0with\u00a0maximum of $40,000\u00a0to be used\u00a0per location. Grant recipients are required to comply with ND Smart Restart protocols.<\/p>\n

Funds must be used to reimburse eligible entities for costs in operations, like payroll, rent and utilities. Eligible expenses must have been incurred on or after March 27, 2020, and no later than Dec. 29, 2020.<\/p>\n

Recipients of the first round of the Hospitality Economic Resiliency Grant PLUS may be eligible for round two funds if the recipient received less than the full eligible amount. In this case, the recipient may be eligible for the difference between the two rounds, up to the maximum distribution allowed per grant. Different expenses from round one reimbursements must be submitted to receive round two funds.<\/p>\n

Applications will be processed as they are received. Funding will be approved if the application meets all criteria and funding is available.\u00a0Additional information\u00a0is available\u00a0at belegendary.link\/PHERG<\/a>.<\/p>\n
