Thursday&#8217;s games were their first contests since October. Midland improves to 9-8 overall. The Warriors have now played 15 games in the spring season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Up next:<\/strong> VCSU and Midland will play another doubleheader at U.S. Bank Stadium on Friday at 10 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Midland University 10, VCSU 3<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nMidland scored five runs in the first inning and five more in the sixth en route to a 10-3 win in the opener.<\/p>\n<p>After falling behind 5-0, the Vikings bounced back with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. A two-run triple by <a id=\"rosterLink0\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3366\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3366\" data-original-title=\"\">JT Reed<\/a> scored <a id=\"rosterLink1\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3373\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3373\" data-original-title=\"\">Jorun Hamre<\/a> and <a id=\"rosterLink2\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3350\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3350\" data-original-title=\"\">Jayden Shipman<\/a>, and then <a id=\"rosterLink3\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3361\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3361\" data-original-title=\"\">Gage Gellner<\/a> doubled home Reed to cut VCSU&#8217;s deficit to 5-3.<\/p>\n<p>VCSU could get not closer though, and Midland broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings finished with three runs on five hits. Midland scored its 10 runs on 10 hits.<\/p>\n<p>Reed was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs. Gellner went 1-for-3 with an RBI. <a id=\"rosterLink4\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3358\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3358\" data-original-title=\"\">David Demeter<\/a>, <a id=\"rosterLink5\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3353\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3353\" data-original-title=\"\">Adam Thompson<\/a> and <a id=\"rosterLink6\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3373\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3373\" data-original-title=\"\">Jorun Hamre<\/a> each collected a hit as well.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rosterLink7\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3357\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3357\" data-original-title=\"\">Reed Butz<\/a> started on the mound for VCSU and went five innings, allowing seven hits and six runs. He walked two and struck out four. <a id=\"rosterLink8\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3696\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3696\" data-original-title=\"\">Wes Johnson<\/a> and <a id=\"rosterLink9\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3693\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3693\" data-original-title=\"\">Zach Veneman<\/a> pitched in relief.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Midland 2, VCSU 1<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nMidland won game two with a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning, rallying for a 2-1 victory.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings took a 1-0 lead after <a id=\"rosterLink10\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3350\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3350\" data-original-title=\"\">Jayden Shipman<\/a>&#8216;s sacrifice fly scored <a id=\"rosterLink11\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3373\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3373\" data-original-title=\"\">Jorun Hamre<\/a> in the top of the fourth inning. The Vikings were on the verge of tacking on another run in the fifth inning after <a id=\"rosterLink12\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3366\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3366\" data-original-title=\"\">JT Reed<\/a> singled and stole second and third base with one out. He tried to score on a bunt by <a id=\"rosterLink13\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3698\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3698\" data-original-title=\"\">Gedeon Ellis<\/a> and appeared to easily avoid the tag with a headfirst slide, but the umpire called him out and VCSU was unable to score in the inning.<\/p>\n<p>Midland tied the game in the top of the sixth inning, scoring an unearned run off Viking pitcher <a id=\"rosterLink14\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3706\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3706\" data-original-title=\"\">Phillip Almanza<\/a> to make it 1-1. Midland then won the game in the seventh inning, loading the bases with three singles against relief pitcher <a id=\"rosterLink15\" class=\"rosterProfileLink  \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/48\/3\/3362\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/48\/3\/3362\" data-original-title=\"\">William Hlady<\/a> before drawing the game-winning walk.<\/p>\n<p>Almanza started for VCSU and was lights-out on the mound, allowing just two hits over 6 1\/3 innings. He struck out seven, did not walk a batter and allowed just the one unearned run.
