(AP) \u2014 Grand Forks police say they\u2019re investigating a stabbing in a park near an elementary school. Officers were called to University Park near West Elementary School about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. They found a male middle school student had been stabbed at least once. The victim told police a boy he knows was the perpetrator. Police say the suspect was found at a nearby home. The victim was transported to Altru hospital by ambulance. His condition is not know. (AP) \u2014 A federal judge faced with a motion on whether the Dakota Access pipeline north of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation should be shut down during an environmental review is giving the Biden administration another chance to weigh in on the issue. U.S. District Judge James Boasberg held a hearing earlier this month to give the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers an opportunity to explain whether oil should continue to flow during its study. The Corps instead told the judge it wasn\u2019t sure if it should be shut down. Boasberg said in a one sentence order filed late Monday that the Corps has until May 3 to tell him when it expects the environmental review to be completed and give \u201cits position, if it has one,\u201d on whether the pipeline should be shut down.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota\u2019s attorney general says a bill that would give a lawmakers more oversight on how federal funding is spent between legislation sessions may not survive a court challenge. (AP) \u2014 North Dakota has expanded its joint border vaccination program with Canada to include truck drivers from Saskatchewan who are transporting goods to and from the United States. A similar program with Manitoba was announced last week. University in five sets. Set scores were 25-23, 19-25, 19-25, 25-15, and 15-13.<\/p>\n Jamestown, now 28-1 overall, closes out pool play Wednesday against University of Providence (Mont.) at 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n Despite being narrowly outhit .220-.216 in the first set, the Jimmies took a 25-23 victory in set one. Taylor Sabinash<\/a> (JR\/Kensal, N.D.) had five kills to lead the offense with Kalli Hegerle<\/a> (JR\/West Fargo, N.D.) adding three kills while Nicole Schmitz<\/a> (FR\/Oakes, N.D.) and Corina Huff<\/a> (SR\/Breezy Point, Minn.) each had two. Viterbo had leads of 20-19 and 21-20 before UJ came back to pull ahead 22-21. A Viterbo kill tied the set, but Hegerle and Sabinash had back-to-back kills to send UJ to set point. An attack error by the Jimmies made it 24-23, but Anna Holen<\/a> (JR\/LaMoure, N.D.)\u2019s kill ended the set.<\/p>\n Viterbo trailed 5-3 in set two but rattled off six straight points to lead 9-5. The Jimmies cut the lead to 12-9, but the V-Hawks gradually built the lead to seven. A Sabinash kill made it 21-18 but Viterbo closed out the set with four of the last five points.<\/p>\n Jamestown led 6-5 in set three only to have the V-Hawks score five straight to make it 10-6. A Schmitz kill ended the rally, and UJ got within a point at 13-12 after a Viterbo service error. Another run of four straight from the V-Hawks made it 17-12, and the Jimmies were no closer than four points the rest of the way.<\/p>\n UJ had a dominating fourth set on both sides of the net, hitting .457 with just one error on 35 attempts while holding Viterbo to a .116 hitting percentage. Hegerle posted eight kills and Holen three as the Jimmies ran off three or more straight points on three different times in the set. Hegerle, Sabinash, Huff, and Jayla Ritter<\/a> (JR\/Forest Lake, Minn.) all had two block assists and Sydney Ellingson<\/a> (SR\/Langdon, N.D.) had six digs.<\/p>\n In the decisive fifth set, Jamestown led 10-6 before Viterbo rallied to tie. Huff and Hegerle put the Jimmies ahead by a pair, then the V-Hawks scored two straight to tie again. Once more, Huff and Hegerle struck to give UJ a 14-12 lead, and on match point, a ball-handling error gave Viterbo another chance. However, the ensuing serve was in the net, and the Jimmies won 15-12.<\/p>\n Hegerle came back from rolling an ankle on the second point of the match and\u00a0posted a career-high 23 kills, hitting .512 with just one error. Huff and Sabinash both had 10 kills while Ritter and Holen each had nine.<\/p>\n Jackie Meiklejohn<\/a> (JR\/Dickey, N.D.) passed out 31 assists, while Megan Gaffaney<\/a> (JR\/Jamestown, N.D.) had a double-double of 28 assists and 11 digs. Both rounds were played at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Onalaska, Wis.<\/p>\n Both Viking teams finished fifth out of six teams at the meet. Valley City State\u2019s men improved their day two score by 27 shots as they finished with a 681 total (354-327). Bellevue University won the men\u2019s tournament with a 594, beating second-place Waldorf by 29 shots.<\/p>\n VCSU\u2019s women shaved 13 shots off their first round score as they totaled a 787 total (400-387). Bellevue University easily won the women\u2019s title, scoring a 633 \u2013 which was 62 shots better than second-place Viterbo University.<\/p>\n The top seven individuals were awarded First Team All-Conference while golfers finishing 8th-14th received Honorable Mention All-Conference.<\/p>\n Braunberger was the top Viking finisher, shooting 87 on Monday and 90 on Tuesday to place 10th in the women\u2019s standings. Hayley Shanks<\/a> finished in 16th after shooting 92-94. Ashley McKittrick<\/a> tied for 19th with rounds of 97-94 and Megan Haugrud<\/a> (124-109) placed 23rd for the Viking women.<\/p>\n Genztkow entered Tuesday\u2019s final round in 17th after shooting an 86 on Monday. University Tuesday afternoon at Trapper Field, defeating the Tigers 5-1 and 9-0 in a GPAC doubleheader.<\/p>\n UJ improves to 31-11 overall, 14-6 in the conference, and will close out the regular season by hosting No. 11 Morningside (Iowa) College on Saturday.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Tigers got on the scoreboard first in the opener, as Alyssa Burke came home on a bunt by Haley Linke in the top of the third.<\/p>\n Mariah Wick<\/a> (JR\/Jamestown, N.D.) got things going for UJ in the bottom half, reaching on a one-out single and promptly stole\u00a0second base. Morgan Geiszler<\/a> (JR\/Horace, N.D.) singled to put runners on the corners, and after Jenna Remenar<\/a> (FR\/Vancouver, Wash.) walked to load the bases, Wick came home on a wild pitch to make it 1-1. Kassi Ward<\/a> (JR\/Olympia, Wash.) also walked to once again load the bases, and following the second out of the inning, Santina Zito<\/a> (SO\/Boise, Idaho) lined a double to right center field. All three runners came home and the Jimmies led 4-1.<\/p>\n Remenar\u2019s sacrifice fly scored Gentrey Turin<\/a> (FR\/Sandy, Ore.) an inning later to make it 5-1.<\/p>\n The five runs was more than enough to work with for Katie Merchant<\/a> (SO\/South Haven, Minn.) (12-6), who needed just 66 pitches to completefour five innings. She allowed one run while scattering six hits, striking out one. Kat Miska<\/a> (JR\/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) worked the final two innings in relief.<\/p>\n Gracie Fisher<\/a> (FR\/Bemidji, Minn.) was 2-for-3 at the plate while Sydney Prussia<\/a> (JR\/Detroit Lakes, Minn.), Katie Reisdorfer<\/a> (JR\/Fresno, Calif.), and Megan Neiles<\/a> (FR\/Winnipeg, MB) also had hits.<\/p>\n In game two, Lucy Sinkkonen<\/a> (FR\/Cloquet, Minn.) blanked the Tigers in just her fourth start of the season and first at Trapper Field. She allowed just four hits over five innings to record her first career shutout. UJ finished at 88-over 1240 (319-309-305-307), two shots back of fifth-place Northwestern (Iowa) College and five shots behind fourth-place Briar Cliff (Iowa) University. Perryman now has 11 home runs this season and is suddenly flirting with the single-season school record of 15 home runs set by Kelli Unrein in 2006.<\/p>\n North Star Athletic Association Softball Player-of-the-Week<\/u><\/strong> North Star Athletic Association Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week<\/u><\/strong> Ward had a big week at the plate as the Jimmies went 4-2 in GPAC play. She hit safely in all six games with multiple hits in four of those games. In UJ\u2019s 11-6 win at Hastings (Neb.), Ward was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI. Ward continued her hot streak in game two against the Broncos, finishing 4-for-4 with two homers, a double, three runs scored, and five RBI. For the week, Ward hit .636 (14-for-22), with two doubles, three home runs, and 12 RBI, with a slugging percentage of 1.136 and an on-base percentage of .667.<\/p>\n Miska won her fourth Pitcher of the Week award as she was a perfect 3-0 in three appearances for UJ last week. She held (RV) Concordia (Neb.) to one run on three hits over seven innings in a 3-1 win, then struck out 17 in seven innings in a 7-3 win at Doane (Neb.) Miska finished the week with six shutout innings at Hastings (Neb.), striking out 12 without issuing a walk in an 11-6 win. For the week, she had a 1.40 earned run average in 20 innings, striking out 36 and held opposing batters to a .171 average.<\/p>\n The Jimmies conclude the regular season with a pair of home doubleheaders this week, hosting Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Tuesday and Morningside (Iowa) College on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\nRiley Perryman<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Valley City State (N.D.) \u2013 5\u20197\u2033 \u2013 Junior \u2013 outfielder \u2013 Cottage Grove, Minn.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Perryman hit a tie-breaking 3-run home run in the fifth inning of a 7-4 win over Waldorf (Iowa) for Valley City State (N.D.).\u00a0 She had a .727 batting average (8-of-11 at the plate), .733 on-base percentage, and a 1.818 slugging percentage after smashing four home runs and recorded four singles.\u00a0 Perryman drove in eight runs and scored eight times as the Vikings went 5-0 record for the week.<\/p>\n
