Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 On Thursday afternoon, a person was taken into custody\u00a0 who was\u00a0 wanted after a pursuit.<\/p>\n

\"\"26 year-old Eric Skorick is facing charges of Driving Under Suspension, Fleeing\/Eluding a Police Officer, Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment, and Theft of Property. He\u2019s currently being held in the Stutsman County Correctional Center on $5,500 bond.<\/p>\n

The pursuit was initiated outside city limits when the vehicle was engaged by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

Jamestown Assistant Police Chief, Major Justin Blinsky, reports, that when the pursuit entered city limits, a crash occurred at the intersection of 8th Avenue Southeast and 7th Street Southeast. The driver then fled on foot but was apprehended in the area.\u00a0 Radio reports indicated the person was located in a house, which was actually a garage in the 700 block of 7th Avenue, Southeast.<\/p>\n

As a precaution, during the search, Roosevelt Elementary School was locked down and then was released. Blinsky says there is no threat to the public, or the school.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol was assisted by the Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

By screening with rapid antigen tests, event attendees will be able to receive their test results within 15 minutes via text notification. \"\"Denver<\/strong> \u00a0\u2013 FEMA has provided more than $1.6 million in Public Assistance funding to Stutsman County for costs related to the October 2019 flooding. Under this declaration, FEMA has paid a total of $10.9 million for the state of North Dakota to date. The assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration issued January 21, 2020. This funding is authorized under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.<\/p>\n

The $1.6 million was approved for Stutsman County to utilize force account labor, equipment, and material for a permanent grade raise of County Road 39, which had been inundated by floodwaters.<\/p>\n

During the incident period, historically high groundwater saturation, and subsequent rapid snowmelt created an unprecedented October flood in central and eastern North Dakota. Powerful floodwaters washed surface gravel and culverts from Stutsman County and township roads and disrupted lifeline infrastructure. This prevented access to multiple residences within the St. Paul Township, creating significant delays for first responders struggling to reach citizens in need.<\/p>\n

(AP) \u2014 A Minnesota farmer who broke his back, fell victim to COVID-19 and recently underwent surgery will nonetheless have corn and soybeans to harvest this fall thanks to an agricultural organization that helps those in need. The non-profit Farm Rescue helped Robert Nord plant his fields in North Dakota, not far from his homestead in Wolverton, Minnesota. The farm is Nord’s family\u2019s sole source of income, so getting the crops in on time is a life saver. He says he is overwhelmed by the support. Farm Rescue has helped more than 700 families since its inception in North Dakota in 2005.<\/p>\n

The Vikings advance to the winner’s bracket of the NSAA Softball Tournament. No. 1 Valley City State will face No. 5 Dakota State at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n

Joelle Aiello<\/a> hit four doubles in the victory, increasing her career total to 19 and tying the school record for career doubles. She went 4-for-5 at the plate, scored four runs and drove in two Thursday.<\/p>\n

Amber Stewart<\/a> got the win in the circle, working 4 2\/3 innings. She allowed six runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three. Emily Smith<\/a> got the save, pitching 1 1\/3 innings in relief. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.<\/p>\n

Aiello opened the game with a double down the right field line and scored on an RBI single from Hawkins. Stone scored Hawkins with an RBI triple and stole home to take a 3-0 Viking lead at the end of the first inning. Stone later scored on a sac fly RBI from Andrea Rodriguez<\/a> to lead 4-0 after three innings.<\/p>\n

Aiello doubled again in the fourth inning, followed by a Gest walk. A Presentation error allowed Hawkins to reach and load the bases. Stone, Perryman, Crocker all singled to drive in four more runs and hold an 8-0 Viking lead at the end of the fourth.<\/p>\n

Presentation then scored all six runs in the top of the fifth. Camille Vestal opened scoring with a solo home run over the left field fence. Hannah Larson and Ashleigh Wong also homered in the inning to close the gap to 8-6.<\/p>\n

Aiello led off the fifth inning with her third double of the day and scored on another Saints error. Riley Perryman<\/a> hit a three-run home run to lead 12-6 at the end of the fifth, and Gest put it away in the sixth with a two-run homer to finish the game 14-6 by run rule.<\/p>\n

The Vikings finished with 14 runs on 17 hits and just one error in the game. Presentation scored six runs on eight hits and committed four errors Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BELLEVUE, NEB. \u2013 Senior pitcher Emily Smith<\/a> picked up her 20th win and eighth shutout of the season with a 5-0 victory over Dakota State Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

Valley City State picked up its 17th straight victory and moves to 34-5 on the season. Smith worked all seven innings and allowed just three hits, walked one and struck out six in Thursday’s game.<\/p>\n

The Vikings posted five runs in the first two innings to hold a comfortable lead throughout the game. Joelle Aiello<\/a> led off with a single and Anne-Elise Gest<\/a> walked. Marissa Hawkins<\/a> advanced the runners with a groundout and Makenzee Stone<\/a> bunted to score Aiello. Autumn Perry<\/a>‘s two-run double scored Gest and Stone to lead 3-0 after the first inning. The Vikings added a pair of runs in the second inning with Joelle Aiello<\/a>‘s two-run triple, scoring Andrea Rodriguez<\/a> and Jessica Husband<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Warriors took an early 1-0 lead on a double by Kaitlin Anders, but the Jimmies tied the game on Kassi Ward<\/a> (JR\/Olympia, Wash.)\u2019s third-inning double.<\/p>\n

Roni Foote hit a two-run home run off Kat Miska<\/a> (JR\/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) in the bottom of the fourth to put Midland ahead 3-1, then four straight hits off Miska in the bottom of the fifth led to three runs and a 6-1 lead. The Warriors added another run later in the inning off reliever Lucy Sinkkonen<\/a> (FR\/Cloquet, Minn.) to take 7-1 lead into the sixth.<\/p>\n

Chase Hacker<\/a> (SR\/Millcreek, WA) led off the top of the third with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brian Rice<\/a> (JR\/Vancouver, WA). Grant Okawa<\/a> (SR\/Mississauga, ON) followed with a single up the middle to bring home Hacker for a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

That would be all the offense the Jimmies would muster against Mount Marty starter Tyler Preist. Preist worked into the sixth inning and allowed just one run on seven hits.<\/p>\n

Fitz (6-3) scattered five hits over the first seven innings but ran into trouble in the eighth. Josh Roemen singled to start the frame, and moved to second after Mason Townsend walked. Zane Salley came in to run for Townsend, and with Billy Hancock at the plate, Salley and Roemen pulled off a double steal. The throw to get Roemen went offline, allowing Roemen to score and Salley to advance to third. Hancock then homered to left to make it 3-1 and chased Fitz from the game.<\/p>\n

Reliever Cameron Jenkins<\/a> (JR\/West Richland, WA) retired the first batter he faced but then allowed a solo home run to Colin Muth to make it 4-1.<\/p>\n

Jamestown scored once in the top of the ninth against Lancer reliever Jared Bell. Brice Foster<\/a> (SR\/Lynnwood, WA) singled and an error by the left fielder allowed him to move into scoring position. After a pair of groundouts, Foster was at third and came home on a pinch-hit single by Luke Shekeryk<\/a> (JR\/Seattle, WA). Bell retired the final hitter to end the Jimmie rally.<\/p>\n

Foster was 3-for-4 while Hacker finished 2-for-4. The Jimmies finished with nine hits overall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Brooklyn Nets continue to fade after building a 1 1\/2-game lead in the NBA\u2019s Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n

The Nets now find themselves 2 1\/2 games behind East-leading Philadelphia following their fourth straight loss, 113-109 to Dallas. Luka Doncic (DAHN\u2019-chihch) scored 24 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 23 to help the Mavericks complete a sweep of the two-game season series.<\/p>\n

Dorian Finney-Smith scored 17 points as the Mavericks reached 10 games over .500 for the first time this season.<\/p>\n

The Nets fell despite Kyrie Irving\u2019s season-high, 45 points. Kevin Durant chipped in 20 points and nine rebounds for Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Clippers are No. 3 in the Western Conference following a 118-94 pounding of the Lakers. Paul George led seven Clippers in double figures with 24 points and Kawhi (kah-WY’) Leonard had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the blowout win. Kyle Kuzma (KOOZ’-muh) dropped in a team-high 25 points for the Lakers, who played without LeBron James and received just four points from Anthony Davis on 2 of 9 shooting.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Caris LeVert scored 31 points, including nine in the final 2:17 to push the Pacers past the Hawks, 133-126. All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis (doh-MAHN\u2019-tahs sah-BOH\u2019-nihs) scored 30 points on 12-of-14 shooting with nine assists for Indiana. Trae Young led the Hawks with 30 points and 10 assists.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Nikola Vucevic (VOO\u2019-cheh-vihch) provided 29 points and 14 rebounds as the Bulls hammered the Hornets, 120-99. Zach LaVine (lah-VEEN\u2019) returned from an 11-game absence due to the league\u2019s health and safety protocols and scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting for Chicago.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Wayne Ellington and Cory Joseph scored 18 points apiece to help the Pistons beat the Grizzlies, 111-97 and end a four-game losing streak. Memphis scored just 17 points in the second quarter and 21 in the third but trailed by just eight heading into the final period.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Wizards eked out a 131-129 win over the Raptors as Bradley Beal had 14 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Albert Pujols (POO\u2019-hohlz) has been designated for assignment, abruptly ending the 41-year-old superstar slugger\u2019s decade with his second major league team.<\/p>\n

Pujols is fifth in major league history with 667 career homers, and 13th with 3,253 hits. The oldest active player in the majors is batting just .198 this season with five homers and 12 RBIs.<\/p>\n

Crandall was one of the best defensive catchers of the 1950s and early 1960s, earning four Gold Gloves and appearing in 11 All-Star games over eight seasons.<\/p>\n

Crandall was a member of the Braves\u2019 1957 World Series championship team and the 1958 squad that lost the World Series.<\/p>\n

Those are proposals suggested by the NCAA\u2019s oversight committee and will go to the Division I Council for approval this month. It is expected to pass and go into effect next season. The changes to preseason practice come after a five-year study of six major college football teams showed players suffered more concussions during preseason practices than during games.<\/p>\n

A Foreign Ministry spokesperson says Chinese authorities will release information about the re-entry of the rocket, expected over the weekend, in a \u201ctimely manner.” He says the rocket’s design will ensure it would be largely destroyed during the re-entry process, \u201cwhich has a very low probability of causing harm to aviation activities and the ground.” China\u2019s space agency has yet to say whether the main stage of the huge Long March 5B rocket is being controlled or will make an out-of-control descent.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 America\u2019s employers likely delivered another month of robust hiring in April, reinforcing the economy\u2019s steady rebound from the pandemic recession. Economists have forecast that the nation added 975,000 jobs last month after adding 916,000 in March, and that the unemployment rate slipped from 6% to 5.8%. The size of such job gains was essentially unheard-of before the pandemic. Yet most of the hiring represents a bounce-back after tens of millions of jobs were lost when the pandemic flattened the economy 14 months ago. Even if economists\u2019 estimate for April hiring proves accurate, the economy would remain about 7 million jobs short of its pre-pandemic level.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Friday, the EU drug regulator said it had started a rolling review of sotrovimab, based on early results from an ongoing study into whether the treatment can prevent hospitalization or death in people who don\u2019t yet have severe COVID-19. Sotrovimab is a monoclonal antibody, a lab-produced antibody that is intended to stimulate the immune system by reducing the ability of the coronavirus\u2019s spike protein to enter the body\u2019s cells. An emergency use authorization for sotrovimab has also been submitted to regulators in the U.S. and Canada.<\/p>\n
