(NDHP)\u00a0\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that\u00a0 motor vehicle pursuit occurred Saturday <\/span>on I-29 <\/span>span<\/span>ning several<\/span> counties<\/span>. The <\/span>pursuit originated in Pembina County<\/span>. A Pembina County Deputy observed <\/span>a vehicle <\/span>that<\/span> was <\/span>repo<\/span>rted as stolen from Harwood ND a<\/span>nd was<\/span> exceeding the s<\/span>peed limit. When the Deputy <\/span>attempted a <\/span>traffic stop the vehicle fled<\/span> southbound on I-29. <\/span>The top speed of the fleeing <\/span>vehicle during the pursuit was 95<\/span> mph<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The suspect vehicle exited the interstate and trave<\/span>led <\/span>eastbound on Hwy 54<\/span>, briefly entering Minnesota before tur<\/span>ning <\/span>westbound and returning to <\/span>North Dakota<\/span> where it continued to travel southbound on I-29. As Law<\/span> Enforcement <\/span>continued to pursue<\/span>, the sus<\/span>pect vehicle drove over spike strips set out b<\/span>y the Grand Forks <\/span>Sheriff<\/span>\u2019s Off<\/span>ice deflating one tire<\/span>, the suspect vehicle<\/span> continued to flee sout<\/span>hbound. <\/span>The <\/span>suspect <\/span>vehicle<\/span> entered a construct<\/span>ion zone<\/span> on I-29, <\/span>south <\/span>of Hillsboro, and drove <\/span>sout<\/span>hbound in the northbound lane towards oncoming traffic<\/span> before it<\/span> merge<\/span>d back into the <\/span>southbound lane<\/span>s. At<\/span> mi<\/span>lepost<\/span> 75 <\/span>on I-29 <\/span>the sus<\/span>pect <\/span>vehi<\/span>cle d<\/span>rove over spike strips deplo<\/span>yed <\/span>by a NDH<\/span>P Trooper, <\/span>the suspect vehicle continued to f<\/span>lee <\/span>southbound on I-29 <\/span>with<\/span> only one <\/span>tire re<\/span>maining on the vehicle. The sus<\/span>pect <\/span>vehicle<\/span> was unable to maintain on<\/span>e lane and began <\/span>to steer towards pu<\/span>rsuing law enforcement vehicles. A P<\/span>ursuit Intervention Technique (P<\/span>IT) <\/span>was utilized on the flee<\/span>ing vehicle<\/span> before it was able<\/span> to enter<\/span> the Fargo Metro area. The <\/span>suspect<\/span> left the roadway entering the west ditch<\/span> of I-29. <\/span>On<\/span>ce <\/span>off the roa<\/span>dway,<\/span> the suspect <\/span>vehicle co<\/span>ntinued to flee southbound in the ditch and drove back onto I-29 w<\/span>here it struck a <\/span>NDHP squad car. The suspect vehicle<\/span> was then forcibly<\/span> rammed off the ro<\/span>adway by a NDHP <\/span>squad car ending the pursuit<\/span> in the west ditch.<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>juvenile male driver and juvenile male <\/span>passenger were taken into custody without further incident. The pursuit covered 103 miles on <\/span>I-29. <\/span>There were no inju<\/span>ries to the suspects or law enforc<\/span>em<\/span>ent. <\/span>Both <\/span>suspects <\/span>are facing charges of f<\/span>leeing, <\/span>reckless<\/span> endangerment<\/span>, theft of a motor vehicle <\/span>and possession of stolen property. <\/span><\/p>\n
