\"\"Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi\/JSDC)\u00a0 The Jamestown\/Stutsman Development Corporation at this month\u2019s Board meeting approved the incentives package for the ADM Soybean Crushing Plant <\/a>coming to the former Cargill Plant at the Spiritwood Energy Park.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, JSDC Business Development Director, Corry Shevlin outlined the incentive package.<\/p>\n

It includes $2.514 million on an 80\/20 split between Stutsman County and the City of Jamestown, with Jamestown share at 80-percent, with approval of each. The City\u2019s share is, $2,011, 200. It includes a FlexPACE interest Buy-down, new jobs training funds, JSDC jobs incentive, and up to $1 million payable upon confirmation of and final signatures to construct the plant.<\/p>\n

Incentives also includes up to $500,000 upon completion of the plant, no later than 24 months following the execution date of Letter of Intent with the Spiritwood Energy Park Association.<\/p>\n

All loans and grants will be subject to \u201cclaw backs.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0Corry said that \u00a0allows the JSDC to recapture any and all incentives if ADM does not fulfill the incentives, which is not expected to be used.<\/p>\n

In other JSDC business, Corry said the board discussed the FlexPACE interest buydown program, and approved a package for K.C. Motorsports, planning to purchase Stutsman Harley-Davidson in Jamestown.<\/p>\n

All members were present.<\/p>\n

The City Council \u00a0considered approving the JSDC request to fund $2,514,000 for the Company X \u00a0(which is ADM) \u00a0Soybean Processing Plant, at Spiritwood, incentive package, with the City Share to be $2,011,200, 80 percent of the total with the 20 percent Stutsman County\u2019s share. \u00a0\u00a0The City Council unanimously approved the request. The City Council approved A SECOND READING: Of an <\/strong>Ordinance to create Article VII of Chapter 25 of the Code of the City of Jamestown, North Dakota, concerning outdoor seating in the City of Jamestown.<\/p>\n

Approved was the purchase of surveillance cameras for downtown City parking lots in the amount of $13,952.00. Mayor Heinrich said the dollars come from a grant, with the deadline approaching.<\/p>\n

Police Lt Sid Mann said, the grant was secured by Central Valley Health District, and the fixed cameras covers the area near the railroad tracks, and covers the area of the Central Valley Health District location and over to the middle school parking lot, and Center for Economic Development. The Grant covers the cost of the camera, and installation. \u00a0A monthly fee will also be charged.\u00a0 He said the cameras will aid in observing incidents that may occur in the event charges are filed against individual(s) in the act of a crime.<\/p>\n

The City Council approved the Permit Application for Outdoor Seating Area on City or State Right-of-Way and Cover Instructions.\u00a0 Mayor Heinrich said the permit application agenda item, was not put out three hours in advance for notification purposes.\u00a0 There were no objections to proceeding.<\/p>\n

The two trials had been scheduled in courthouses in Burleigh and Morton counties. The trial of two people charged in the death last year of a Bismarck man is scheduled to begin Monday. Separately, the trial for a man accused of killing four people at a Mandan business is set to begin June 7 at the Capitol.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A jury in Burleigh County will decide if a Moffit man charged in a fatal stabbing committed murder or was acting in self-defense. Forty-eight-year-old Arthur Funk is charged in the June 2020 death of 53-year-old Kevin Stockert, of Mandan. Prosecutors say the two men fought when Funk, who had been staying with Stockert\u2019s girlfriend, failed to return her car. Prosecutor Chase Lingle says Stockert was stabbed numerous times, suffered a broken rib and was left to die with Funk making no attempt to call for medical help. Defense attorney Scott Rose told jurors that Funk was still in the driver\u2019s seat of a car when he was punched by Stockert, the two struggled and Stockert had no other option but to defend himself.<\/p>\n

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) \u2014 Police have made another arrest in the fatal shooting of a cab driver in Moorhead. A 17-year-old girl is accused of driving the car that was used when taxi driver 24-year-old Abdullahi Abdullahi was killed last week during an alleged armed robbery. The girl is being held in the West Central Juvenile Detention Center on possible charges of aiding and abetting three charges, including second-degree murder without intent. Eighteen-year-old Willie Sparkman Jr. is charged n Abdullahi\u2019s death. A criminal complaint states investigators connected Sparkman and the 17-year-old to Abdullahi\u2019s death via phone records.<\/p>\n

\"\"Valley City\u00a0 (VCSU)<\/a>\u00a0 The Valley City State University softball team was not selected to compete in the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round, the national office announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The 40 teams that will compete in the opening round were revealed\u00a0Tuesday afternoon, and VCSU was not among the eight teams selected for at-large tournament berths. The at-large bids were determined by a national selection committee comprised of NAIA softball coaches and athletic directors. A total of 32 teams had automatic berths into the tournament based on regular season and tournament championships.<\/p>\n

Valley City State ends the season with a 35-7 overall record. The Vikings were second in the nation in runs per game (7.74) and had the 11th-best winning percentage. The Vikings were also Top 10 in several other categories, including second in opponent batting average (.186) and seventh in team batting average (.360).<\/p>\n

The Vikings went 25-2 in conference play to claim their second straight NSAA regular season conference championship. Valley City State lost to Dickinson State in the NSAA Tournament Championship.<\/p>\n

The 35 wins by this year’s Viking team is the fifth most wins in program history, and the .833 winning percentage is the second-best in team history.<\/p>\n

The Vikings will graduate five seniors from this year’s squad, including pitchers Emily Smith<\/a> and Amber Stewart<\/a> and position players Autumn Perry<\/a>, Keana Harmon<\/a> and Kailee Fraser<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dickinson State (N.D.) went undefeated in the postseason tournament in Bellevue, Neb.\u00a0 The Blue Hawks claimed the tournament title by defeating Valley City State 4-3 on May 8, earning the league\u2019s automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round scheduled for May 17-19.<\/p>\n

(UJ<\/a>) Nine University of Jamestown track and field athletes earned all-conference honors based on their finishes at the GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Seward, Neb.<\/p>\n

Braedon Gumke<\/a> (JR\/Watford City, N.D.) was second in the pole vault, setting a new personal best of 4.80 meters while reaching the qualifying mark for nationals.<\/p>\n

Nik Herman<\/a> (SR\/Glasgow, Mont.) was fifth in the javelin with a personal best throw of 49.38 meters.<\/p>\n

Jorden Morales<\/a> (FR\/Phoenix, Ariz.) was sixth in the discus (46.84 meters)<\/p>\n

Noah Mang<\/a> (JR\/West Chester, Ohio) took seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.15.<\/p>\n

Braeden Knutson<\/a> (SO\/Casselton, N.D.) was eighth in the 400 hurdles, running a time of 57.58 to set a new personal best.<\/p>\n

For the women, Jordynn Toliver<\/a> (SO\/Box Elder, S.D.) was fifth in the heptathlon with a career-best 4390 points, fifth in the javelin (35.46 meters), and was eighth in the long jump (5.33 meters).<\/p>\n

Naja Whitehead<\/a> (SO\/Tacoma, Wash.) was sixth in the triple jump with a new personal best of 10.81 meters.<\/p>\n

Anni Stier<\/a> (SO\/Rugby, N.D.) ran 1:07.14 in the 400 hurdles for a new personal best while Meghan Orr<\/a> (SR\/Ypsilanti, N.D.)\u00a0was eighth with a time of 1:07.47.<\/p>\n

The top eight in each event and top three relays are considered GPAC All-Conference.<\/p>\n

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) \u2014 The Israeli city of Tel Aviv is under fire from a barrage of rockets launched from the Gaza Strip. The volleys killed a 50-year-old woman who was the third Israeli citizen killed on Tuesday. The attack set off air raid sirens across the city and closed the main international airport. Hamas said it launched a total of 130 rockets, its most intense strike so far, in response to Israel\u2019s destruction of a high-rise building in Gaza earlier in the evening. The sound of the outgoing rockets could be heard in Gaza. As the rockets made their way up in the skies, mosques across Gaza blared with chants of \u201cGod is great,\u201d \u201cvictory to Islam\u201d and \u201cresistance.\u201d<\/p>\n

ATLANTA (AP) \u2014 A man accused of killing eight people in shootings at three Atlanta-area massage businesses has been indicted on murder charges. Six of the victims were women of Asian descent. A Fulton County prosecutor says she\u2019ll seek hate crime charges and the death penalty after a grand jury indicted 22-year-old Robert Aaron Long on murder charges Tuesday. The indictment only covers the four killings that happened at two spas in Atlanta. It will be up to a separate grand jury in Cherokee County to decide on charges in the shooting at a spa near suburban Woodstock in which four were killed and one person was wounded.<\/p>\n

BRUSSELS (AP) \u2014 A seven-month investigation by the Associated Press and the Oxford Internet Institute, a department at Oxford University, found that China\u2019s rise on Twitter has been powered by an army of fake accounts that have retweeted Chinese diplomats and state media tens of thousands of times. The accounts covertly amplified propaganda that can reach hundreds of millions of people \u2014 often without disclosing the fact that the content is government-sponsored. The move onto Western social media comes as China wages a war for influence \u2014 both at home and abroad \u2014 on the internet, which President Xi Jinping has called \u201cthe main battlefield\u201d for public opinion. Twitter and Facebook are blocked inside China.<\/p>\n

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) \u2014 Sean Parnell is expected to announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania\u2019s open U.S. Senate seat. He scheduled a news conference Tuesday afternoon in suburban Pittsburgh. Parnell is a decorated Army veteran and regular guest on Fox News programs who became a favorite of former President Donald Trump. Parnell unsuccessfully challenged Democratic U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb in western Pennsylvania last year. The Senate seat in the presidential battleground state is being left open after two-term Republican Sen. Pat Toomey announced in October that he wouldn’t run again. Both the Democratic and Republican fields are getting crowded, with next year\u2019s primary election still a year away.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Joe Biden is expected to nominate former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to serve as the U.S. ambassador to Japan. That’s according to a person familiar with the president\u2019s decision who was not authorized to comment about the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday. Emanuel is a former three-term congressman who served as Barack Obama\u2019s first White House chief of staff and was a senior adviser in Bill Clinton\u2019s administration. EDEN, Texas (AP) \u2014 Authorities say a suspect shot and killed two central Texas sheriff\u2019s deputies and critically wounded a city employee while they were responding to a complaint about a dog at a home. Sgt. Justin Baker, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Tuesday that the suspect was taken into custody after Monday night\u2019s attack in Eden, a city of about 1,300 people roughly 210 miles southwest of Dallas. He says that while the two Concho County sheriff\u2019s deputies and city employee were making contact with people at a home, \u201can altercation occurred and quickly escalated to gunfire.” Authorities haven\u2019t released details about the suspect, including the person\u2019s name, age, sex or what charges the person is facing.<\/p>\n

CHAMBLEE, Georgia (AP) \u2014 As the shutdown of a major fuel pipeline entered into its fifth day, companies and government officials took steps to stave off potential fuel shortages, although no widespread disruptions of fuel supplies were reported Tuesday morning. Colonial Pipeline, which delivers about 45% of the fuel consumed on the East Coast, was hit by a cyberattack on Friday. By Tuesday the company had restored some fuel delivery service, but the main artery of the pipeline remained shut down. Colonial has said it anticipates restoring the majority of its service by the end of the week<\/p>\n
