{"id":228131,"date":"2021-06-17T13:31:07","date_gmt":"2021-06-17T18:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=228131"},"modified":"2021-06-18T09:27:08","modified_gmt":"2021-06-18T14:27:08","slug":"tourism-funds-additional-dollars-for-train-parkette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=228131","title":{"rendered":"Tourism funds additional dollars for Train Parkette"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mep_0\" class=\"mejs-container mejs-container-keyboard-inactive wp-audio-shortcode mejs-audio\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"application\" aria-label=\"Audio Player\">\n<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Board met Thursday at the University of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Members present:\u00a0 President, Tena Lawrence, Frank Balak, Pam Phillips, Paulette Ritter.<\/p>\n<p>and Tourism Director Searle Swedlund.<\/p>\n<p>Ex Officio Member:\u00a0 Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, Executive Emily Bivens.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GRANT BOARD MEETING<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A-Maze-N-Clown Pumpkin Patch \u2013 Shriners of Jamestown<\/li>\n<li>Museum Brochure \u2013 Stutsman County Museum<\/li>\n<li>Mill Hill Brackets &amp; Banners \u2013 Jamestown Beautification Committee<\/li>\n<li>Frontier Village Train Parkette<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The A-Maze-N- Clown Pumpkin Patch, with the Shriners Of Jamestown requested $5,000 \u00a0toward advertising, for the event September and October 2021, to be used for advertising and flyers.\u00a0 Representative Corey Bayer, said it will be a five weekend festival starting September 11 running through October 17 each Saturday and Sunday, near Jamestown, with a tent provided and games for the kids.\u00a0 Sponsored by Jamestown Clowns, there will be many over volunteers assisting. It\u2019s a fundraiser for Jamestown Clown causes, including, local gifts for children and Shrine Hospitals.\u00a0 He said those attending in the past, outside the Jamestown area, include those from Fargo, Bismarck, Carrington, and Minnesota.\u00a0 He added that a corn maze will be added.<\/p>\n<p>Other funding sources include Jamestown Clown in the amount of $15,000.<\/p>\n<p>The event is anticipated to attract 200 visitors within 150 miles of Jamestown, with an estimated economic impact of $25,560.<\/p>\n<p>The board granted\u00a0 the full \u00a0$5,000.\u00a0 The event will be monitored for this year\u2019s success.<\/p>\n<p>The Stutsman County Memorial Museum Request $567 for new brochures, with a quote for 2500 brochures from Two Rivers Printing.<\/p>\n<p>The board granted\u00a0 $567<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, Beautification Committee represented by\u00a0 Paulette Ritter, requested $2,875 for double-sided vinyl banners to be erected on Mill Hill, placed there this summer, and fall.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The full quoted cost of the banners printing \u00a0and hardware from Newman Signs is $5,750.<\/p>\n<p>The board granted voted to approve a one to match up to $3,000<\/p>\n<p>Frontier Village requested\u00a0 $8,500 \u00a0for the <a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=228032\">Train Parkette<\/a>, a circular area, near the entrance. The request was to help funding installing a tunnel and covered bridge for storage of the trains.<\/p>\n<p>The board granted, the full amount of $8,500.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Call to Order \u2013 Tena Lawrence<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Declaration of Conflict of Interest:\u00a0 \u00a0Paulette Ritter, was allowed to discuss but not vote on the chamber beautification request, being on the committee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Minutes:\u00a0 Amended and approved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Grant Allocation Report \u2013 Frank Balak with amounts granted so far this year, and dollars remaining in budget for the rest of this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Report \u2013 Searle Swedlund led a discussion on tourism\u2019s future role in the proposed&lt; Bison World, &#8211; A Legendary Experience, regarding providing assistance, concerning tourism\u2019s mission.\u00a0 He added that the new Trail Guides have been published.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ex-Officio Reports: Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce Executive, Emily Bivens, outlined several summer events and activities including Buffalo Days, the Farmers Appreciation Banquet, along with several ribbon cuttings so far this year, along with the Ground Breaking at the Frontier Village Train Parkette, and an upcoming \u201cCash Mob,\u201d event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"mejs-inner\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown Tourism Grant\/Executive Board met Thursday at the University of Jamestown.
