Miller, Gackle, ND passed away peacefully on July 16<sup>th<\/sup> 2021 at Vibra Hospital in Mandan, ND.<\/p>\n<p>Norman was born August 9<sup>th<\/sup>, 1940 at the family farm to Mathilda (Gienger) and Emil Miller.\u00a0 He was baptized September 27, 1940 at the Neudorf Lutheran church in Neudorf Township and confirmed on July 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, 1955 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Gackle.\u00a0 He received his elementary education in the local Neudorf Township County school.\u00a0 He went on to graduate from Gackle High School in 1958.\u00a0 After graduation, he continued to help his parents on the family farm.\u00a0 In 1960, Norman enlisted in the US Army and served for 2 years.\u00a0 Fifteen months of that time was spent in Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Norman was a member of the American Legion, served on the FHA board, elevator board, and future development board of Gackle.\u00a0 He taught Sunday school for 9 years at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.<\/p>\n<p>Norman married Karen Buerkle on October 24<sup>th<\/sup>, 1965 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.\u00a0 They lived on the former Jacob Zenker farm from 1965-1969.\u00a0 They then made their family home on the Miller family homestead southwest of Gackle.<\/p>\n<p>Norman and Karen were blessed with 2 daughters, Anita born in 1969 and Katina born in 1973.<\/p>\n<p>Norman loved all aspects of farm life with haying season being his favorite.\u00a0 He grew corn, wheat, soybeans, sunflowers, and flax.\u00a0 He milked dairy cows for 35 years and had a beef cow herd along side for many years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStormin Norman\u201d was known for his hard work and somewhat unusual ways to farm.\u00a0 So much so, he was known as the man with 9 lives.\u00a0 Even in his last days, from his hospital bed, he was farming, giving orders, selling wheat, and planning how to complete those last 3 projects.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen and 2 daughters, Anita (Scott) Hoger, Brenna, Fayth, and Kendyl all of New Salem ND; Katina (Jared) Sprenger and Jace, Mandan, ND; his twin brother , Norbert (Eileen) Miller, West Fargo, ND; Sister-in Laws, Pat Miller, Valley City, ND; JoAnne (Marvin) Miller, Gackle, ND; Marcene (Henry) Veil, Jamestown, ND, Nieces and Nephews, Luther Miller, Randy (Hannah) Miller; Angela ( Hugo) Villareal, Sarah (Adeel) Afzal.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brian Veil, JoDell (Daryl) Stading, Denise (Kevin) Stoppleworth and many other great nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Calvin; his in-laws, Edwin and Alma Buerkle; and one nephew, Todd Veil.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Service \u2013 10:30 AM July 23, 2021 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND, with Pastor Nathan Wicks, officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation \u2013 4-7p July 22, 2021 at the Church.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements- Haut Funeral Home, Gackle, ND.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Norman E.
