Then on Saturday, at 10:08 p.m. the city fire department was called to a power pole fire at 1530 6th Avenue, Southwest.\u00a0 They were on scene until 10:53-p.m. when Otter Tail Power arrived on scene.<\/p>\n

On Sunday the city firefighters went to\u00a0 at 1:15 a.m.\u00a0 apartment complex\u00a0 at 733 11th Street, Northeast. That fire was out when firefighters arrived. \u00a0 Firefighters ventilated smoke from the building. 16 firefighters and three fire \u00a0 units at the scene for about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

\"\"Oakes\u00a0 (NDHP)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that about 11:48 a.m., Saturday,\u00a0<\/span><\/span> 2005 and 1985 Harley Davidson Motorcycles <\/span><\/span>were involved in a rear end collision<\/span><\/span>, on Highway 1, fives miles north of Oakes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 1985 Harley Davidson Motorcycle operated by 48 year old,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> Jessey Hager of Brainerd, MN and\u00a0 2005 Harley Davidson Motorcycle <\/span>
operated by 33 year old Brandon Bohne, of Baxter, MN <\/span><\/span><\/span>were traveling southbound on Highway 1 <\/span>around 60 mph. Both drivers began to slow as a dog was heading toward the roadway. <\/span>Bohne\u2019s vehicle didn\u2019t slow as fast as Hager\u2019s.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bohne\u2019s vehicle\u00a0 struck the back of Hager\u2019s.\u00a0 The\u00a0 <\/span>bikes separated with Hager\u2019s vehicle\u00a0 sliding on its side and the driver being removed from his bike. <\/span>
Bohne\u2019s vehicle was able to stay upright and come to a stop. Both drivers were transported to\u00a0 <\/span>Oakes hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The North Dakota Health Department continued its campaign to promote the safety and necessity of COVID-19 vaccinations, this time focusing on getting shots for children before school resumes this fall. North Dakota has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country with just over 40% of the population completing their required doses, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Six other states had a worse record as of Thursday. The state health department\u2019s website shows that 19.7% of adolescents in the 12-18 age group are considered fully vaccinated. Two Fargo doctors speaking at a virtual town hall emphasized the historical success of vaccines and encouraged parents to turn to their pediatricians or health care providers with any questions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Commissioners Cichos, Ova and Morris voted in favor of the cut, Commissioners Klose and Gumke opposed the decrease.<\/p>\n

Library System Director Joe Rector, said the budget cut will eliminate staffing at the Stutsman County Library. The buidling would continue to be used by the library system for storage of books and supplies.<\/p>\n

He presently has no vehicle.<\/p>\n

He is a 28 year old white male five feet seven inches tall, weighing 215 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n

He has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota risk level committee of the ND Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Offense: Gross Sexual Imposition, when he was 25 years old involving a three year old female and a six year old male, and also forced them to perform sexual acts on him.<\/p>\n

Conviction Date: August 2017, in Richland County, ND District Court.<\/p>\n

Disposition: Three years, 16 days credit, 10 years supervised probation, concurrent.<\/p>\n

He is on GPS Monitoring.<\/p>\n

Abell is not wanted by police and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 board member Jay Nitschke said, about 14 dogs are available for adoption, with seven recent adoptions.<\/p>\n

Penelope is a female husky mix, and will need a fenced in yard\u2026\u00a0 Rouge and Ginger area a pitbull mix, and it\u2019s preferred they be adopted together, as they have bonded at the shelter.<\/p>\n

There are currently about 11 cats available for adoption.\u00a0\u00a0 Jay highlighted three black cats.<\/p>\n

Malcom is a male, a year and a half old. Tootsie Roll is a male one year old, and Hugo is a one year old male, and is shy, and will need a bit of adjustment at first to his new home.<\/p>\n

Jay also said the James River Humane Society will hold a Taco Feed Fundraiser on October 2, 2021, from 5-p.m. to 7:30-p.m., at the Club 1883 on First Avenue, South, in Jamestown, formerly the K.C. Hall.<\/p>\n

She reminds pet owners, when there is poor air quality, such as the wildfire smoke that blankets the area to make sure pets are outside for a short period of time, like when the extremely hot conditions are in place.<\/p>\n

Organizers say they expected at least 700,000 people to show up during the 10-day event. Even on Thursday, downtown Sturgis was clogged with Harleys, rallygoers crowded shoulder-to-shoulder at bars and rock shows, and masks were nowhere in sight. Public health experts worry the rally will again be a vehicle to spread coronavirus infections. Hundreds of rallygoers were infected last year, spreading the virus to other communities.<\/p>\n

(AP) \u2014 A relative has identified three people killed in the fiery crash of a small plane in southeastern Minnesota as a surgeon from Omaha, Nebraska, and two of his family members from Wyoming. Jo Mertes, of Mantador, North Dakota, told the Star Tribune Sunday that her nephew, 42-year-old Jacob Mertes and his 37-year-old wife, Sara Mertes, of Libby, Montana, died along with her nephew\u2019s 72-year-old stepfather, Dr. James Edney, who was piloting the plane. There were no survivors. The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was flying from Alexandria Municipal Airport to Eden Prairie\u2019s Flying Cloud Airport before 6 p.m. Saturday when it went down and burst into flames in Victoria, a city of 7,300 about 25 miles southwest of Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

(AP)\u00a0 Canada is lifting its prohibition on Americans crossing the border to shop, vacation or visit, but the United States is keeping similar restrictions in place for Canadians. The reopening Monday is part of a bumpy return to normalcy from COVID-19 travel bans. The border has been closed to nonessential travel since March 2020 to try to slow the spread of the coronavirus. The U.S. has said it will extend its closure to Canadians making nonessential trips until at least Aug. 21, which also applies to the Mexican border. The lopsided rules on one of the world\u2019s longest and busiest land borders is unsurprisingly being met with cheers and jeers.<\/p>\n

MINOT, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A Minot man has been sentenced to six years in prison and three years of probation for crashing his motorcycle while drunk, killing a passenger. Prosecutors say Harry Hughes\u2019 blood alcohol content was 0.13% when he crashed the bike into a lighted railroad crossing arm that was in the downward position last April, killing 42-year-old Daylene Gladue. The 43-year-old Hughes earlier pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide. According to statements made in court at Friday\u2019s sentencing hearing, Hughes and Gladue had gone out drinking together that night prior to the accident. Neither was wearing a helmet and both struck their heads on the crossing arm.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Bismarck police say a male suspect who instigated a fight with officers suffered a medical emergency and later died. The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday when police responded to a report of someone acting erratically and screaming outside of a residence. Officers found a person running from the area and attempting to jump a privacy fence into the neighboring property. Police say the person became aggressive and threatened to kill them, then advanced toward the officers and began fighting with them while they attempted to arrest him. Authorities say he then suffered a medical issue, Life saving efforts were performed by officers, fire and ambulance personnel on scene. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

FARGO, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A complaint filed on behalf of a North Dakota agency challenges a new state law promoted by the energy industry on limiting the collection of oil and gas royalties. The measure that went into effect this week reduces the amount of interest the state can charge companies for unpaid oil and gas royalties, from 30% to 15%. In addition, the law that sailed through the Republican-dominated Legislature does not allow the state to collect unpaid royalties before August 2013. The brief filed Monday on behalf of the state land board argues the legislation violates the U.S. Constitution because it harms the obligation of previously agreed-upon contracts. State Land Commissioner Jodi Smith has said \u201chundreds of millions\u201d of dollars are owed to the state.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Tampa Bay Rays now enjoy a four-game lead in the American League East after completing a three-game sweep in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

Brett Phillips capped his first career two-homer game with a tiebreaking grand slam in the eighth inning of the Rays\u2019 9-6 comeback over the Orioles. Tampa Bay trailed 5-3 before scoring six times in the eighth to improve to an AL-leading 68-44.<\/p>\n

Tampa Bay is 11-1 against the last-place Orioles this season, outscoring them 94-48.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays helped out the Rays by rallying in the eighth inning of a 9-8 win over the second-place Red Sox. Boston led 8-6 until George Springer crushed a three-run homer.<\/p>\n

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added a two-run drive to help the Blue Jays finish 9-2 on their first homestand in Canada since September 2019.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Oakland wrapped up a three-game sweep as Starling Marte went 4 for 5 with an RBI in the Athletics\u2019 6-3 decision over the Rangers. Sean Murphy and Jed Lowrie each drove in two runs as the Athletics won their fourth in a row while handing Texas its 14th consecutive road loss.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Bradley Zimmer\u2019s tiebreaking home run in the seventh lifted the Indians past the Tigers, 7-5. Derek Hill\u2019s first major league home run in the second inning helped Detroit build a 5-2 lead, but Cleveland rallied and went ahead on Zimmer\u2019s two-run shot off Erasmo Ram\u00edrez. \u2014 Albert Pujols (POO\u2019-hohlz) belted his first home run against the Angels since they released him in May, sending Walker Buehler and the Dodgers to an 8-2 win. Cody Bellinger homered for the second straight game in helping the World Series champions take two of three in the Freeway Series. Buehler is 12-2 after pitching six strong innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out eight.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Pinch-hitter Tommy La Stella singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, capping the Giants\u2019 comeback in a 5-4 win over the Brewers. Le Stella\u2019s base hit came one inning after pinch-hitter Brandon Belt smacked a two-run blast that tied it. The Giants took two of three in the series of division leaders and own the majors\u2019 best record at 71-41.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Reds completed a four-game sweep as Tyler Mahle struck out 10 while limiting the Pirates to two runs and six hits over seven innings of Cincinnati\u2019s 3-2 victory. Kyle Farmer had an RBI double off losing pitcher Bryse Wilson to cap a three-run fourth that helped the Reds get within five games of the NL Central-leading Brewers. Nick Castellanos doubled and scored as the Reds improved to 9-1 versus the Bucs this season.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Newcomer Anthony Rizzo has become the latest Yankees player to test positive for the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

The first baseman tested positive after Saturday\u2019s game against Seattle. He went 0 for 4 in the Yankees\u2019 5-4 victory.<\/p>\n

Rizzo is the fourth New York player within the past week to be sidelined by COVID-19, joining starting pitchers Gerrit Cole and Jordan Montgomery and catcher Gary S\u00e1nchez.<\/p>\n

FSU coach Bowden dies at 91<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 College football is mourning the loss of one of its greatest coaches. Bobby Bowden has died after a battle with pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n

His son, Terry, says his father died at home in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by family early Sunday morning. He was 91.<\/p>\n

Bowden led Florida State to two national championships and a record of 315-98-4 during his 34 seasons with the Seminoles. In all, Bowden had 377 wins during his 40 years in major college coaching. His teams, no stranger to scandal, won national titles in 1993 and 1999 and came close several other times. He was selected for the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.<\/p>\n

U.S. leads medal counts as Olympics close<\/p>\n

TOKYO (AP) \u2014 The closing ceremony was held at the Tokyo Games on Sunday as the International Olympic Committee now prepares for the Winter Games in just a few months.<\/p>\n

The United States wound up finishing first in both medals tables despite a few mild disappointments in competition. The Americans picked up 39 gold medals, one more than China and 12 better than Japan. The total medal count for the U.S. was 113, 25 more than China.<\/p>\n

The Americans also outpaced all countries with 41 silver medals and 33 bronze.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Packers wide receiver Devin Funchess has apologized for using a racial slur against Asians during a news conference on Saturday night. Funchess said on Twitter that he \u201cmeant no harm.\u201d He added that he understood that his comment was \u201cnot OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Darius Leonard is now the highest-paid linebacker in the NFL.<\/p>\n

The Indianapolis Colts and Leonard have agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $99.25 million. Contract terms were confirmed to The Associated Press by a person with knowledge of the deal.<\/p>\n

The deal keeps Leonard off the 2022 free-agent market and means the Colts have locked up their two biggest offseason priorities in the past two weeks. Right tackle Braden Smith signed his extension in late July.<\/p>\n

Peyton Manning, John Lynch, Calvin Johnson, Charles Woodson and Alan Faneca (FAN\u2019-ee-kuh) were inducted as modern-day players. Tom Flores entered in the coaching category, and Drew Pearson in the senior category. Bill Nunn, who was recognized posthumously in April from the contributors, will be featured in a video tribute.<\/p>\n

Evia\u2019s fire is the most severe of dozens that have broken out across Greece over the past few days, after the country was baked by its worst heat wave in three decades which sent temperatures soaring to 45 degrees Celsius for days. The government forces have now completely withdrawn from the province. The envelope was addressed by hand in pen to: \u201cThe Pope, Vatican City, St. Peter\u2019s Square, Rome,\u201d and contained three bullets presumed to be for a pistol and a message referring to financial operations at the Vatican.
