Strausberg\u00a0 (NDHP) The North Dakota Highway Patrol has updated the report including the pilot who was killed in the August 1o, 2021 crop duster plan crash.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At approximately 7:40 am a crop spraying aircraft actively <\/span>
engaged in spraying struck a high voltage transmission line. The impact caused disabling\u00a0 <\/span>damage to the aircraft a single engine, 1975 Rockwell International S2R and it crashed into a\u00a0 <\/span>nearby field. The pilot 63 year old Michel Gunia of Linton, ND<\/strong> suffered fatal injuries during the\u00a0 <\/span>crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Western Area Power Administration\u00a0 <\/span>transmission line was severed. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The crash occurred three miles west and three miles south of\u00a0 <\/span>Strasburg, ND near the intersection of 7th avenue and 92nd street SE. The crash remains under\u00a0 <\/span>investigation by the NDHP and FAA with the assistance of the Emmons County Sheriff\u2019s office. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The National Transportation Safety Board tweeted earlier that the plane was a Rockwell International S-2R, a fixed wing aircraft. The NTSB, Federal Aviation Administration and Emmons County deputies are investigating.<\/p>\n

The crash\u00a0 <\/span>remains under investigation by the NDHP and FAA with the assistance of the Emmons County\u00a0 <\/span>Sheriff\u2019s office. The name of the pilot will be released pending notification of family. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The NTSB tweeted that the Rockwell International S-2R plane went down Tuesday in the Emmons County community of Strasburg, which is about 75 miles southeast of Bismarck. The agency provided no other immediate details, including whether there were injuries. The Emmons County Sheriff\u2019s Office said deputies have responded to the incident.
