Jamestown\u00a0 (NDHP)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that a\u00a0Jamestown man died in a one-vehicle rollover on Thursday evening, August 26, one mile north of Moorton, on Richland County 1, about 10-10 p.m. with the time is still under investigation.<\/p>\n
The patrol said the man was driving a 2014 GMC Sierra, negotiating a curve when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the west ditch, struck a field approach, vaulted and rolled. The vehicle came to rest in the west ditch.<\/p>\n
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Also responding to the accident were the Richland County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Mooreton Fire Department and Breckenridge (Minnesota) Ambulance.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (JPD)\u00a0 The Jamestown Police Department reports that on August \u00a021, 2021, at approximately 2:58-p.m. the Jamestown Police Department received a report of an assault that occurred hours earlier inside a residence in southeast Jamestown. The suspect had already left the residence before officers arrived.<\/p>\n
Police Major, Justin Blinsky\u2019s report says, during the investigation, it was alleged the suspect had been invited over to the victim\u2019s residence to visit with several acquaintances. While the suspect and victim were visiting, an argument ensued and escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, the suspect was alleged to have assaulted the victim by using his hands to strangle the victim around his neck, until the victim\u2019s airway was obstructed and subsequently lost consciousness. Other individuals present in the residence intervened to stop the assault. The suspect then allegedly made terroristic threats to the witnesses of the assault, before leaving the residence.<\/p>\n
The 43-year-old victim was later treated for his injuries at Jamestown Regional Medical Center and released.<\/p>\n
The suspect was located in southwest Jamestown at approximately 4:12-p.m. \u00a0He was identified as 42-year-old Kenneth Graham of Jamestown. Graham was arrested on suspicion of the following charges: Aggravated Assault, Terrorizing, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a City of Jamestown Arrest Warrant. He was transported to Stutsman County Corrections, to await formal charges.<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (JPD)\u00a0 The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents of a high risk registered sex offender who has relocated within Jamestown, ND.<\/p>\n
50 year-old Zeferino Carlos Rangel has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota \u00a0Attorney General\u2019s risk level committee.<\/p>\n
He presently resides at 438 A 2nd Street Southwest, Jamestown, ND<\/p>\n
He is a 50 year old, Hispanic or Latino male, five feet four-inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.<\/p>\n
Offense: \u00a0Gross Sexual Imposition when he had sexual intercourse with a 19 year-old female while she was passed out. He also forced a 14 year-old male and an 8 year-old female to perform oral sex on him on several occasions.<\/p>\n
Conviction Date:\u00a0 July 2012 in Pembina County, ND District Court.<\/p>\n
Disposition: 25 years, 13 years suspended, 748 days credit, 10 years supervised probation, concurrent.<\/p>\n
He is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation.<\/p>\n
Rangel is not currently wanted at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court. This notification is meant for public safety only and should not increase fear in the community. Any attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten an offender will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n

A 61 year old <\/span>female pedestrian\u00a0 from Lisbon\u00a0 was reported to be in the south bound lane of Highway 32. The driver of\u00a0 <\/span>the Ford pickup braked and attempted to swerve away from the female pedestrian. The Ford <\/span><\/span>struck the female pedestrian near the front driver side. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The female pedestrian and Ford <\/span>pickup came to rest in the south bound lane and right-hand shoulder. The female pedestrian\u00a0 <\/span>was transported by Lisbon ambulance and flown by Sanford Air Med to Essentia hospital in <\/span>Fargo to be treated for her serious injuries sustained in the crash. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The crash is under investigation by <\/span>the North Dakota Highway Patrol.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Agencies Involved: <\/span>North Dakota Highway Patrol, Ransom County Sheriff\u2019s Department, <\/span>Sargent County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Lisbon Police Department, Lisbon ambulance, and\u00a0 <\/span>Sanford Air Med. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n As of August 25, 2021, North Dakota confirmed five human WNV cases, with six pending further results. Of the five cases, four were hospitalized and three were neuroinvasive cases. Of the six pending, two are hospitalized. In addition to human cases, two horses, one bird and 16 mosquito pools have also tested positive for WNV.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cPeople should be aware of the increase in mosquitoes spreading West Nile virus and take proper precautions to protect themselves from bites,\u201d said Amanda Bakken, epidemiologist with the NDDoH. \u201cPeak WNV activity historically has occurred in August. This is the time to be vigilant and take precautions, not just when people are aware mosquitoes are biting them.\u201d<\/p>\n The NDDoH recommends residents take these precautions to avoid mosquito bites:<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em>Most people infected with WNV experience no symptoms. Those who develop symptoms will commonly report fever, headache, body\/joint aches or rash. People who develop severe illness may experience stiff neck, altered mental status, paralysis, coma and possibly death. The redistricting committee began the task of redistricting Thursday. When it’s finalized later this year, it likely will show urban areas of the state gaining political strength in the Legislature, and rural parts losing clout due to population shifts in the past decade. North Dakota now has 47 legislative districts, with each represented by two House members and a senator. (AP) \u2014 An inmate in a southeastern Wisconsin county jail has been charged with killing another inmate in what the local sheriff called a \u201cvicious, unprovoked attack.\u201d Washington County sheriff\u2019s officials say the 23-year-old inmate was attacked, kicked in the head 28 times at the jail in West Bend Aug. 17 and died over the weekend. Sheriff Martin Schulteis said it was not a jail fight, it was \u201can attack on a fellow human being.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Four people escaped from an SUV that plunged into the Missouri River in Bismarck. Police say the driver, one of the four occupants, was been arrested on suspicion of driving drunk. Officers responded to the river shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday and found the four in a parking lot and the SUV floating down the river. Authorities say the 21-year-old driver from Interior, South Dakota, apparently confused drive for reverse and accelerated over an embankment and landed in the river. All three passengers and the driver managed to escape through an open passenger window.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In sports…<\/p>\n Final Score<\/strong>: VCSU 24, Jamestown 7 HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong><\/p>\n First Quarter: <\/strong>After the Jimmies were held to a three-and-out on their opening possession, VCSU went 43 yards on 10 plays but stalled at the UJ 3-yard line. The Vikings settled for a 20-yard Nico Magana field goal to take a 3-0 lead with 6:51 left in the first.<\/p>\n Another three-and-out followed by a 12-yard punt gave the Vikings excellent field possession at the Jimmie 30-yard line. On the first play of the drive, Jalen Pfeifer connected with Jacob Gottenborg on a 30-yard touchdown pass, and Magana\u2019s extra point made it 10-0 VCSU with 3:57 remaining.<\/p>\n VCSU forced a Jimmie punt and took over on the UJ 42 with 1:34 to play in the quarter, but the Jimmies held true and kept the Vikings off the board.<\/p>\n Second Quarter:<\/strong>\u00a0UJ sustained a six-play, 20-yard drive early in the second, but had to punt for the fourth straight series. The kick went wide left, and the half ended 10-0 in favor of VCSU.<\/p>\n Third Quarter: <\/strong>The Vikings started the second half with the ball and were hampered by a personal foul penalty that resulted in a punt.
