Valley City\u00a0\u00a0 Valley City Parks and Recreation announces that the Valley City Halloween activities have expanded this year. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

VCPR will <\/span><\/span>have a drive<\/span>\u2013<\/span>thru trunk or treat, movie showing, and costume fun run\/walk. <\/span>Please make sure to wear <\/span><\/span>your costume to all the events!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The events kick<\/span>\u2013<\/span>off on Friday night, October 29, 29<\/span>th<\/span> from 5:30pm<\/span>\u2013<\/span>7p<\/span>m. VCPR staff along with <\/span><\/span>area business\/organizations will be at the Gaukler Family Wellness Center<\/span> (733 8<\/span>th<\/span> Ave. SW Valley City) <\/span><\/span>parking lot for the drive<\/span>\u2013<\/span>thru trunk or treat. Each <\/span>group<\/span> will have a themed booth <\/span>with<\/span> treats and<\/span>\/or <\/span><\/span>prizes for each youth in <\/span>the car. Trunk or Treaters will get to see their favorite superheroes and cartoon <\/span><\/span>characters along the route, at Cartoon Alley.<\/span> <\/span><\/span>

After <\/span>community members<\/span> will head over to the Valley City Rec Center<\/span> (140 4<\/span>th<\/span> St. <\/span>SW Valley City)<\/span>. At 7:15pm on Friday, Oct<\/span>ober 29<\/span> Valley City Parks and Recreation will be showing the <\/span>movie Monster House. Popcorn and water will be provided by VCPR staff at the event. No lawn chairs <\/span>are permitted, but items like blankets<\/span> and beanbags for the floor are welcome. Bleachers will<\/span> also be <\/span>pulled out, so feel free to bring your stadium chair. <\/span> <\/span>

Then,\u00a0 Saturday morning\u00a0 October 30<\/span> at <\/span>9am there will be a Costume fun run\/walk. Participants will start at the Valley City Comm<\/span>unity Outdoor <\/span>Pool<\/span> (870 2<\/span>nd<\/span> Ave. NE<\/span> Valley City)<\/span> and wind their way along a two<\/span>\u2013<\/span>mile route that hits some <\/span>favorite VCPR spots like <\/span>Chautauqua<\/span> Park, Hi<\/span>\u2013<\/span>Line<\/span> Park, and Charlie Brown Field before making their way <\/span>to the finish line back at the pool. Pa<\/span>rticipants will get a water, apple slices, and a t<\/span>\u2013<\/span>shirt at finish. In <\/span>order to guarantee shirt size and get the early bird discounted price of $10, participants must pre<\/strong><\/span>\u2013<\/span>register at vcparks.com <\/span>by Monday, October 18<\/span><\/strong>. After October 18<\/span>, shirt size is no<\/span> longer guaranteed, <\/span>and the cost is $15. <\/span> <\/span>

Throughout the weekend, VCPR will be taking food pantry donations. There will be drop<\/span>\u2013<\/span>off sites at all <\/span>three events along with at the Gaukler Family Wellness Center from Thursday, October <\/span>\u2013<\/span>Sunday, <\/span>October 31<\/span>.<\/span> Examples of<\/span> non<\/span>\u2013<\/span>perishable<\/span> items that can be given include can goods, box<\/span>ed foods, health <\/span>products, and toiletries. No expired items will be accepted. <\/span> <\/span>
