BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Federal airplane crash investigators have found no mechanical problems with the plane in a crash that killed a student at the University of North Dakota\u2019s aerospace school last month. John Hauser was a 19-year-old sophomore majoring in commercial aviation. A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board found that he turned around the Piper airplane he was piloting late on Oct. 18 shortly before it crashed. The report found that the plane then made a \u201crapid descent\u201d before hitting the ground. Hauser, who was from Chicago, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

BUXTON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The University of North Dakota\u2019s aerospace school has cancelled all flight activities after a student pilot from Chicago was killed in an airplane crash. The University of North Dakota plane went down about 8:30 p.m. Monday in a field near the Traill County community of Buxton, in northeastern North Dakota The Grand Forks-based school identified the victim as 19-year-old John Hauser, a student majoring in commercial aviation from Chicago. Robert Kraus, dean of the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences, ordered a \u201csafety stand down,\u201d halting all flight activity Tuesday. University officials said counseling services are being offered to students.<\/p>\n

Near Buxton, ND\u00a0 (NDHP)\u00a0 The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that at 8:30 PM on October 18th, 2021 a UND plane crashed in a field near 11th St <\/span>NE and 165th Ave NE near Buxton.\u00a0 The pilot was a UND student. The pilot suffered fatal injuries during the <\/span>crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. The crash remains under investigation by the <\/span>NDHP and FAA with the assistance of Traill County Sheriff\u2019s Office.
