\"\"Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 Valley City Police continues asking for the Public\u2019s help concerning\u00a0 finding those responsible for a vandalism\u00a0 and burglary of buildings at Bjornson Public Golf Courses over this past weekend.<\/p>\n

Valley City Parks and Recreation Director Tyler Jacobson states that the someone was unsuccessful in attempting to break into a safe.\u00a0 He said the damage caused by the vandalism is estimated in the thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile police are also investigating burglaries and vandalism reported at the Valley City Town and Country Club and Smith Lumber Company in Valley City.<\/p>\n

A Valley City man was arrested and faces two counts of burglary, one count of theft, possession of stolen property and criminal mischief.\u00a0\u00a0 The State\u2019s Attorney will examine the evidence before formal charges may be filed, and his name is released.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact the Valley City Police Department at 845-3110.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Patients must schedule a test at their Essentia clinic in their region. They can do so through our MyChart patient portal, by calling their local clinic or scheduling an E-visit.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D, (AP) \u2014 North Dakota will be allowed to continue to pursue reimbursement from the federal government of millions of dollars the spent policing protests against the Dakota Access oil pipeline. Federal Judge Daniel Traynor on Tuesday denied the federal government\u2019s motion to dismiss North Dakota\u2019s attempt recover more than $38 million from the pipeline protests five years ago. The judge ruled the state\u2019s claim of damages is permissible. The state filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2019, arguing the Corps allowed protesters to illegally camp without a permit. The Corps said protesters weren\u2019t evicted due to free speech reasons.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Plans for North Dakota\u2019s first carbon dioxide storage project are moving forward. State regulators granted several approvals Tuesday for the underground storage of carbon emissions from Red Trail Energy\u2019s ethanol plant near Richardton. Gas from the plant will be compressed and injected into a 6,400-foot well, then form a plume within the underground rocks that make up the Broom Creek formation. The Industrial Commission\u2019s approvals are for underground storage below Red Trail\u2019s proposed injection site in Stark County. Researchers say the state\u2019s rocks could store as much as 250 billion tons of carbon dioxide. Red Trail produces a fraction of that amount annually with 180,000 tons.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves are both one victory away from meeting in the World Series.<\/p>\n

Yordan (yohr-DAHN\u2019) Alvarez had three hits and three RBIs as the Astros hammered the Red Sox, 9-1 in Game 5 of the AL Championship Series. Alvarez opened the scoring with a second-inning blast and added a two-run double that ignited Houston\u2019s five-run sixth.<\/p>\n

Framber Valdez was superb over eight innings, limiting the Bosox to a run and three hits while striking out five. Valdez blanked the Red Sox until Rafael Devers (DEH\u2019-vurz) homered in the seventh. He also became the first pitcher of the postseason to work eight innings.<\/p>\n

Yuli Gurriel (YOO\u2019-lee gur-ee-EHL\u2019) also had three ribbies for the Astros.<\/p>\n

Chris Sale absorbed the loss, allowing four runs and three hits with seven strikeouts over 5 1\/3 innings. Two of the runs were unearned, thanks to an error by first baseman Kyle Schwarber in the sixth.<\/p>\n

The Astros can advance to the World Series on Friday in Houston.<\/p>\n

The Braves are up three games to one in their NL Championship Series after throttling the Dodgers, 9-2 in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Eddie Rosario homered twice in his second four-hit game of the series. Adam Duvall and Freddie Freeman also went deep for Atlanta, which bounced right back from blowing a late lead in an agonizing loss Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Braves tagged Julio Urias (oo-REE\u2019-uhs) for three home runs over the first three innings. Urias was reached for five runs and eight hits in five innings. He was baseball\u2019s only 20-game winner this season.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers finally broke through on AJ Pollock\u2019s two-run single in the fifth, but that was one of just four hits allowed by six Atlanta hurlers on what became a bullpen game.<\/p>\n

Mets\u2019 Carrasco has surgery to remove bone fragment in elbow<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 New York Mets right-hander Carlos Carrasco has had surgery to remove a bone fragment from his pitching elbow and is projected to resume baseball activities this winter.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old Carrasco was obtained by the Mets from Cleveland in January along with shortstop Francisco Lindor. He tore his right hamstring during spring training and didn\u2019t make his season debut until July 30.<\/p>\n

Carrasco went 1-5 with a 6.04 ERA in 12 starts.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Timberwolves were 124-106 winners over the Rockets behind Anthony Edwards\u2019 29 points in 31 minutes. Karl-Anthony Towns furnished 30 points and 10 rebounds to the victory, while D\u2019Angelo Russell added 22 points and seven assists.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Knicks and Celtics opened their seasons by playing double overtime before New York eked out a 138-134 victory. Former Celtic Evan Fournier hit four 3-pointers in the overtime and finished with 32 points. Julius Randle had a team-high 35 points to help the Knicks overcome Jaylen Brown\u2019s career-high 46 points for Boston.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Reigning MVP Nikola Jokic (nee-KOH\u2019-lah YOH\u2019-kihch) had 27 points on 13 of 22 from the field and grabbed 13 rebounds in leading the Nuggets past the Suns, 110-98. Will Barton scored 20 points and Michael Porter Jr. added 15 to help the Nuggets avenge their playoff series loss to the Suns last season. Mikal Bridges led Phoenix with 16 points, while Chris Paul had 15 with 10 assists.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The Philadelphia 76ers had little trouble winning their season opener while guard Ben Simmons stayed home.<\/p>\n

Joel Embiid (joh-EHL\u2019 ehm-BEED\u2019) and Furkan Korkmaz (fur-KAHN\u2019 KOHRK\u2019-mahz) each scored 22 points as the Sixers coasted to a 117-97 win at New Orleans. Embiid also finished with 12 rebounds and Korkmaz drained four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help Philadelphia pull away.<\/p>\n

Korkmaz nailed three 3s in less than a minute to put the Sixers up, 92-79. That was part of a 20-2 run that iced the victory.<\/p>\n

The Sixers traveled without Simmons, who was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.<\/p>\n

Valanciunas extended<\/p>\n

NEW ORLEANS (AP) \u2014 New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas (YOH\u2019-nuhs val-ehn-CHOO\u2019-nuhs) has agreed to a two-year extension worth a reported $30.1 million.<\/p>\n

Valanciunas\u2019 extension was first reported by ESPN, which received financial terms from the center\u2019s representative.<\/p>\n

New Orleans acquired the 29-year-old in a trade with Memphis this past offseason. The Pelicans sent Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe to the Grizzlies for the nine-year veteran.<\/p>\n

Valanciunas averaged 17.1 points and 12.5 rebounds with Memphis last season.<\/p>\n

NFL-NEWS<\/p>\n

Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has a quadriceps injury in addition to his sore left foot and is questionable for the game at Cleveland on Thursday night. Bridgewater got hit 17 times in Denver\u2019s third consecutive loss Sunday, two weeks after he was knocked out of a game against the Ravens with a concussion. What left him limping was right guard Graham Glasgow stepping on his left foot just as he delivered a touchdown throw to Noah Fant in the closing minutes.<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield will sit out Thursday\u2019s game against the Denver Broncos with a painful left shoulder injury.<\/p>\n

Cleveland announced that backup Case Keenum will start, ending speculation about whether Mayfield would try to push through an injury to his non-throwing shoulder that he suffered last month and has worsened in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Keenum has made 62 career NFL starts, most recently for Washington in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The 49ers are optimistic starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo can return this week from a right calf injury but don\u2019t expect backup Trey Lance back for another week. Coach Kyle Shanahan says Garoppolo will be limited at practice after missing one game with the injury and is on target to play Sunday night against Indianapolis. Lance sprained his left knee when he started in place of Garoppolo.<\/p>\n

\u2014 The Texans have released veteran defensive end Whitney Mercilus. Mercilus was one of the longest-tenured players on the team after most of the team\u2019s stars have been traded or released in recent years.<\/p>\n

BOONE, N.C. (AP) \u2014 Appalachian State sent a reminder that there\u2019s more to Sun Belt football that Coastal Carolina.<\/p>\n

Chandler Staton hit a 24-yard field goal as time expired, giving Appalachian State a stunning 30-27 win over the 14th-ranked Chanticleers. Chase Brice threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns, with Malik Williams catching 10 passes for 206 yards.<\/p>\n

Camerun Peoples ran for two touchdowns for the Mountaineers, who have never lost to the Chanticleers at home.<\/p>\n

Grayson McCall threw for 291 yards and one touchdown for Coastal Carolina, which had earned 11 straight Sun Belt Conference wins.<\/p>\n

AP sources: 6 C-USA schools apply for AAC membership<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 Six schools from Conference USA, including UAB, Texas-San Antonio and Florida Atlantic, have applied for membership to the American Athletic Conference and are expected to be accepted by the end of the week, according to two people with knowledge of the process.<\/p>\n

The two people tell The Associated Press that Rice, North Texas and Charlotte also have applied for membership.<\/p>\n

The American was in the market for new members after three of its most successful schools, Cincinnati, Houston and Central Florida, announced in September they would be joining the Big 12. The comings and goings will leave the American with 14 members, likely for the 2023 football season.<\/p>\n

Attorney says Rolovich ready to fight dismissal<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The attorney for fired Washington State football coach Nick Rolovich says his client is prepared to take legal action.<\/p>\n

Attorney Brian Fahling says Rolovich\u2019s termination for refusing to get a COVID-19 vaccination was unlawful and an attack on his Catholic faith.<\/p>\n

Rolovich and four of his assistants were fired Monday for not complying with the governor\u2019s mandate that all state employees be vaccinated against the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

Rolovich had requested a religious exemption but it was denied Monday, the state\u2019s vaccination deadline.<\/p>\n

The changes came as Biden returned to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania on Wednesday to highlight what he says are the middle class values in the plan. Democrats are racing to finish the package but Biden has faced resistance from key holdouts not on board with plans to get rid of Trump-era tax breaks to help pay for it.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Former President Donald Trump says he\u2019s launching a new media company with its own social media platform nine months after being expelled from social media for his role in inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection. Trump says his goal in launching the Trump Media & Technology Group and its \u201cTRUTH Social\u201d app is to create a rival to the Big Tech companies that have shut him out and denied him the megaphone that was paramount to his national rise. Trump has spoken about launching his own social media site ever since he was barred from Twitter and Facebook.<\/p>\n

TOKYO (AP) \u2014 Global shares are mostly lower after major Chinese property developer Evergrande said a plan to sell its property management arm to a smaller rival had fallen through. Benchmarks in France, Germany and Britain declined in early trading. Shares finished lower in Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo. Shares in China Evergrande Group tumbled 12.5% while shares in its property unit slipped 8%. Evergrande said it was having difficulties selling off assets to resolve its cash crunch. Hopson Development Holdings\u2019 shares rose 12.4% after it said was unable to complete the purchase. Trading of shares in all three companies was suspended.<\/p>\n
