ABERDEEN, S.D.\u00a0 (UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 —\u00a0<\/strong>Kia Tower<\/a> (JR\/Bigfork, MN) scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Hannah DeMars<\/a> (JR\/Grand Rapids, MN) added 11 points as the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team cruised to an 81-34 win over Presentation College Tuesday night.<\/p>\n Despite having just two players in double figures, the Jimmies got points from 14 players in all against the Saints.<\/p>\n Jamestown led 20-9 after the first quarter, shooting 42.1 percent overall and forcing Presentation into eight turnovers. The lead ballooned to 45-18 at the half as Tower and Madelyn Schmidt<\/a> (FR\/Tappen, ND) combined for 13 points in the quarter, missing just one of their six shots.<\/p>\n A Lexiss Trygg<\/a> (FR\/Virginia, MN) layup gave UJ its third\u00a031-point lead of the second half and the score was 61-30 going into the fourth.<\/p>\n The Saints went cold in the final ten minutes, making just one of 12 shots while the Jimmies shot 8-of-18 and outscored PC 20-4.<\/p>\n Sarah Lenz<\/a> (FR\/Belle Plaine, MN) finished with nine points and Madelyn Schmidt<\/a> added eight. Megan Oswald<\/a> (FR\/Brownsdale, MN) pulled down a team-high six rebounds.<\/p>\n Jamestown is back in action on November 6 at Mayville State (N.D.) University with game time set for 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Men’s Basketball<\/p>\n ABERDEEN, S.D.\u00a0 (UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 —\u00a0<\/strong>A 16-2 run midway through the second half helped lead the University of Jamestown men’s basketball team to an 80-67 win over Presentation College Tuesday night in non-conference action.<\/p>\n Jamestown held a 37-25 lead at halftime while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field, and led 47-34 after a Cole Woodford<\/a> (FR\/Redwood Falls, MN) free throw at the 15:56 mark.<\/p>\n PC went on an 18-5 run to tie the game at 52 following Denzel McDuffey’s three-pointer with 10:36 remaining. A Mason Walters<\/a> (SO\/Jamestown, ND) layup put the Jimmies back in front, only to have a breakaway dunk by Travez Nyx tie the game again.<\/p>\n Walters scored the next five UJ points, and a three from Marc Kjos<\/a> (SO\/Lake City, MN) made it 62-54 and forced a Saint timeout with 7:07 left. McDuffey sank a pair of free throws to stop the Jimmie streak, but Will Cordes<\/a> (FR\/Shakopee, MN) drained a three on the next Jamestown trip down the court. Devon Schultz<\/a> (SR\/Arlington, MN) put home a thunderous dunk, Woodford made a layup, and Kjos made the back end of a two-shot foul to put the Jimmies up by 14. The Saints would get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way.<\/p>\n Jamestown was led in scoring by Walters with 33 points, with Kjos and Woodford also in double figures with 12.
