Larson received a flawless final pit stop from his Hendrick Motorsports crew to get the No. 5 Chevrolet back on track ahead of his three title rivals. He controlled a restart with 25 laps remaining, quickly cleared Martin Truex Jr., then held off several of Truex\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n
Larson had a Cup-leading 10 victories this year, success that was in stark contrast to his troubles in 2020. He was fired four races into last season and lost nearly every sponsor for his use of a racial slur while racing online. Hendrick signed him and came away with its 14th NASCAR title.<\/p>\n

MIAMI (AP) \u2014 The NBA has told its players, coaches and referees that they should receive booster shots against the coronavirus.<\/p>\n
The league and the players association placed particular urgency for those who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, saying those who received the J&J shot more than two months ago should get a booster.<\/p>\n
The booster recommendation also was made for those who received the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine at least six months ago.<\/p>\n
The league recommendations were acquired by The Associated Press and call for those who got Johnson & Johnson vaccines originally to seek a Pfizer or Moderna booster.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors are close to wrapping up their case in Rittenhouse\u2019s murder trial. But before they do, Gaige Grosskreutz is expected to take the stand. Rittenhouse is charged with shooting Grosskreutz and fatally shooting two other men in the summer of 2020. During the first week of Rittenhouse\u2019s trial, prosecutors played numerous videos that showed the events of Aug. 25, 2020, from different angles. Jurors also heard testimony from people who were with Rittenhouse that night, as well as from police officers and loved ones of the men who died.<\/p>\n
WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 The Biden administration is encouraging local school districts to host clinics to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to kids and information to parents on the benefits of the shots. First lady Jill Biden and Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy are set to visit the Franklin Sherman Elementary School in McLean, Virginia, on Monday to launch a nationwide campaign to promote child vaccinations. The school was the first to administer the polio vaccine in 1954. The visit would come just days after federal regulators recommended the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. The White House says Biden will visit pediatric vaccination clinics across the country to encourage the shots.<\/p>\n

PARIS (AP) \u2014 The president of France\u2019s Bishops Conference said the country’s Catholic Church made \u201ca decisive step\u201d after it agreed to provide financial compensation to sex abuse victims. Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, the conference president, said in a speech on Monday that the Church has recognized its \u201cinstitutional responsibility” and decided to go on \u201ca path of recognition and reparation” that paves the way for victims to possibly receive compensation. The Bishops Conference held its annual meeting a month after a report revealed large-scale child sex abuse within the French Catholic Church. Moulins-Beaufort did not provide details about the amount of the compensation and how the church intends to pay.<\/p>\n

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A man faces driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter charges in a head-on collision near Williston that killed a woman and a child from the city. Troopers say the 52-year-old Williston man was driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 2 when his pickup collided with the woman\u2019s vehicle at about 8 p.m. Saturday. The 44-year-old woman and a juvenile female passenger died at the scene. A 27-year-old man from Jonesboro, Georgia, was a passenger in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. The patrol says the driver of the pickup suffered non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
