Sports Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VCSU Saturday Sports Results<\/p>\n<p>NAIA Football played in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State 33, Dakota State 7<\/p>\n<p>VCSU finishes the year with an 8-2 overall record and a 6-2 record in the NSAA.<br \/>\nDakota State drops to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Valley City\u00a0\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/article\/4208\">VCSU<\/a>) The Valley City State football team and its nine seniors ended the 2021 season with an impressive victory Saturday, defeating Dakota State University 33-7 on VCSU Senior Day.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings led 14-7 at halftime and then broke the game wide open with 19 fourth-quarter points en route to their eighth victory of the season. It is the most wins by a VCSU football team since the 2014 season and gives the Vikings a bit of redemption after an Oct. 16 loss at Dakota State earlier this season.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State intercepted two passes on Saturday, including an interception that <a id=\"rosterLink1\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/5\/3878\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/5\/3878\" data-original-title=\"\">Jerrod Williamson<\/a> returned for a touchdown and the eighth interception of the season by sophomore linebacker <a id=\"rosterLink2\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/5\/3818\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/5\/3818\" data-original-title=\"\">Jahidi West<\/a>. The interception by West tied VCSU&#8217;s single-season school record.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State ends the season with an 8-2 overall record and a 6-2 mark in conference play. The Vikings will finish second in the NSAA standings. Dakota State drops to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The Trojans have one game remaining.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Up next: <\/strong>Valley City State ends the season with an 8-2 overall record. Dakota State closes out the season Nov. 13 at Presentation College.<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s Basketball<\/p>\n<p>VCSU\u00a0 88 Dakota Wesleyan\u00a0 86\u00a0 (OT)<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-sm-12 col-md-7 col-lg-7\">\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p>SIOUX FALLS, S.D.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/article\/4209\">(VCSU<\/a>)\u00a0 \u2013 Jalen Addison made the game-winning jumper with 0.4 seconds remaining in overtime Saturday night as the Valley City State men&#8217;s basketball team scored an 88-86 victory over Dakota Wesleyan University.<\/p>\n<p>Tied at 86-86 with 4.9 seconds remaining, Addison took an inbounds pass and dribbled down the floor to the left corner before pulling up for a 15-footer to win the game. Addison finished with a team-high 22 points Saturday night, knocking down three 3-pointers and coming up with three steals during the game at the NAIA Basketball Classic in Sioux Falls.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State improves to 2-2 overall this season. Dakota Wesleyan drops to 2-1, suffering their first loss of the season.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings trailed by as many as 13 points early in the second half before chipping away at the deficit. <a id=\"rosterLink1\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/1\/3888\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/1\/3888\" data-original-title=\"\">Chris Thompson<\/a>&#8216;s old-fashioned 3-point play with 2:34 remaining finally tied the game at 70-70. Dakota Wesleyan went up 72-70 in the final minute, but VCSU&#8217;s <a id=\"rosterLink2\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/1\/3893\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/1\/3893\" data-original-title=\"\">Tate Hebrink<\/a> scored a basket with 12 seconds remaining to tie the game again and eventually force overtime.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State opened up an 83-76 lead in overtime before Dakota Wesleyan came storming back and eventually tied the game at 86-86 on a basket by Jeffrey Schuch. Dakota Wesleyan shot 58 percent from the field (32-55), 46 percent on 3&#8217;s (5-11) and 61 percent on free throws (17-28).<\/p>\n<p>Ace Zorr led Dakota Wesleyan with 25 points, and Koln Oppold had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds.<\/p>\n<p>VCSU forced 18 turnovers while turning it over just 12 times. Back-to-back 3&#8217;s from VCSU&#8217;s <a id=\"rosterLink0\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/3939\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/3939\" data-original-title=\"\">Adriana Torres<\/a> helped close the gap\u00a0as the Vikings\u00a0trailed 51-32 with under a minute left in the third quarter. Valley City State finished the game on a nine-point run but time ran out as Dakota Wesleyan finished with a 67-51 victory Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Dakota Wesleyan improves to 2-0 on the season and Valley City State falls to 1-1 overall.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State shot 31 percent from the field (19-61), 33 percent from 3-point range (7-21) and 50 percent on free throws (6-12). Dakota Wesleyan shot 39 percent from the field (27-69), just 8 percent on 3&#8217;s (1-12) and 80 percent from the free throw line (12-15). (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/article\/4206\">VCSU<\/a>) \u00a0 \u2013 The Valley City State volleyball team dropped a five-set effort to Presentation College in the regular season finale Saturday, 12-25, 25-22, 25-22, 27-29 and 15-11.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State finishes the regular season with a 13-17 overall record and an 8-6 NSAA record. VCSU will be the No. 4 seed in the postseason after Saturday&#8217;s loss. The Saints finish the regular season with a 15-13 overall record and a 5-9 record in the conference. Presentation clinched a spot in the postseason with Saturday&#8217;s victory.\u00a0The NSAA Tournament will be played Nov. 12-13 in Watertown, S.D.<\/p>\n<p>Valley City State handily took the first set Saturday, forcing six Presentation errors early. VCSU took a 7-1 run to pull away and locked in the 25-12 victory on a <a id=\"rosterLink0\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/14\/4073\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/14\/4073\" data-original-title=\"\">Sadie Hansen<\/a> kill.<\/p>\n<p>Presentation then started to heat up and took the next two sets, both 25-22. After the five-minute scoring drought for the Lancers, Aubrey Twedt hit a 3-pointer to trail 27-22.
