The areas involved were the following: <\/span><\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/> <\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid9\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">-Richardton area: 3 crashes investigated (2 jackknifed semis and 1 passenger car rollover),\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">numerous cars, pickups and Commercial Motor Vehicles stopped in all eastbound lanes of the\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">interstate. Traffic was backed up for approximately 2 miles for vehicles that could not move on <\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the icy roadways. <\/span><\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid10\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/> <\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid11\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">-New Salem\/Sweet Briar Lake area: 1 semi\/car crash investigated, 3 semis stuck in the ditch, 2\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">stuck on the roadway, numerous cars, pickups, and Commercial Motor Vehicles stopped on\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the roadway, traffic was backed up for approximately 2 miles west of New Salem in the\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">westbound lanes and backed up for approximately 2 miles from the Sweet Briar exit in the <\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">eastbound lanes for vehicles that could not move on the icy roadway. <\/span><\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid12\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/> <\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid13\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">-Steele\/Crystal Springs area: 4 commercial motor vehicle crashes, 4 semis stuck in the ditch\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and had to be towed. Jackknifed semis completely blocked the westbound lanes near Crystal\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Springs for approximately 2.5 hrs. The complete closure and other partial blockages led to\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">traffic being stopped on the roadway until the scenes could be cleared. <\/span><\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid14\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/> <\/span><span id=\"page86R_mcid15\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The North Dakota Highway Patrol was assisted by the ND Department of Transportation, Stark\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">County Sheriffs Department, Morton County Sheriffs Department and Kidder County Sheriffs\u00a0 <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Department. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(NDHP)\u00a0 Saturday, November 13, 2021, the North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to multiple traffic events on I-94 extending from Richardton to Crystal Springs.
