\"\"Jamestown\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The 30th Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Concordia Lutheran Church, 502 1st<\/sup> Ave N., Jamestown, across from Loaf and Jug, is set for Thanksgiving Day November 25.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Pastor Tom Eckstein said, no dining room meal will be served, in house due to COVID-19 precautions.<\/p>\n

Meals will be provided through a drive up process available from 11-am to 1-pm at the church. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Please watch the signage for the drive through meal pick up set up that day using the alley from the north end of the block.\u00a0 They will also provide delivery of meals that day from 11-1. No dinning room meal in house due to covid.<\/p>\n

This meal is free to<\/u><\/strong> anyone.<\/u><\/strong> (single people, parents, families, people working, college students, don\u2019t want to cook or traveling through, etc.) To be served with the turkey, will be \u00a0stuffing, mashed pot., gravy, veggies, \u00a0and pumpkin bars for dessert.<\/p>\n

Pastor Eckstein said 22 turkeys will be roasted courtesy of the University of Jamestown kitchen, enough he said to serve 700 meals.\u00a0 The turkeys were donated by Cash Wise Foods with the meals prep starting on Wednesday, with the sides being prepared by volunteers at the church.<\/p>\n

He pointed out anyone wishing to volunteers as drivers for home delivery, prep work, and then cleanup can call the church at 701-252-2819.\u00a0 Those wishing a home delivered meal should also call 701-252-2819, and leave your name, phone number, address and the number of meals requested.<\/p>\n

Pastor Eckstein invites the community to the Thanksgiving Day service, starting at 10-a.m. \u00a0Sunday Services are at 8-a.m., and 10:30-a.m., and Wednesdays at 7-p.m. except for this Wednesday November 24.<\/p>\n

The free Thanksgiving meals was started 30 years ago by the Pantry Caf\u00e9 owner Fritz Buegel, who offer the meals for those in need.<\/p>\n

Over the years the attendees grew, and the meal was eventually moved to \u00a0Concordia Lutheran Church where more space is available.<\/p>\n

Concordia Lutheran Church wishes \u00a0everyone a healthy and safe Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n

\"\"BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A North Dakota farmer has been accused of attempting to arrange the assassination of a Ukrainian official and has been detained in the country. North Dakota\u2019s congressional delegation has asked the U.S. Department of State to ensure the well-being of 50-year-old Kurt Groszhans, KFGO reported. Groszhans grew up in the central part of North Dakota and attended North Dakota State University. He and a Ukrainian woman are accused of trying to assassinate Roman Leschenko, the current Agrarian Policy and Food Minister. Groszhans had business dealings with the agriculture minister. U.S. Sen. John Hoeven says his office contacted the Department of State after hearing from Groszhans\u2019 family and friends.<\/p>\n

\"\"Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Barnes County Sheriff\u2019s Office has released the number of open burglary and theft cases now under investigation.<\/p>\n

The News Release States:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Barnes County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Citizens of Barnes County for information we have received regarding the recent Burglaries\/Thefts that have been occurring locally.<\/p>\n

From January 1, 2021 to November 22, 2021 of the 4,890 Calls for Service our office has received, 22 of those calls are related to Burglary\/Breaking and Entering and 41 of them are Theft related calls.<\/p>\n

For the year of 2020 during those dates, of the 3,243 Calls for Service our office had received, 17 of those were Burglary\/Breaking and Entering and 46 were Theft related calls.<\/p>\n

Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin says sometimes it’s hard to solve Burglaries\/Breaking and Entering calls because a majority of them take place on abandoned properties that sometimes aren\u2019t checked for long periods of time.\u00a0 Theft calls can be equally as challenging to solve because of the same reasons and items can range in value worth as little as ten dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars.\u00a0 Sometimes property owners let us know about them but don’t necessarily ask us to investigate them.<\/p>\n

Sheriff McClaflin added that these numbers are in line with past years numbers however total Calls for Service numbers are on a rise.\u00a0 He would like the Citizens to know we take every one of these calls seriously and do our best to solve them.\u00a0 Sheriff McClaflin would also like to remind Citizens to continue to be aware of their surroundings and call our office if you notice something suspicious in your area.\u201d<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Reported income by all North Dakota residents and the number of filers dropped last year largely due to the coronavirus pandemic. State Tax Department data show the reported gross income by North Dakotans dropped by 8.4 % in 2020, while the number of filers dropped by more than 18,000 from the year before. Tax Department records show the average adjusted gross income in the state decreased from about $66,000 in 2019 to about $63,000 last year. Tax Department analyst Kathy Strombeck says the decreases were not as bad as anticipated due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Joe Biden is ordering 50 million barrels of oil released from America’s strategic reserve to help bring down energy costs. He said Tuesday he is acting in coordination with other major energy consuming nations, including China, India, and the United Kingdom. It will take time, he said from the White House, “but before long you should see the price of gas drop where you fill up your tank.\u201d The action is aimed at global energy markets, and also to help Americans who are coping with higher inflation and rising prices ahead of Thanksgiving and winter holiday travel. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is an emergency stockpile to preserve access to oil in case of natural disasters, national security issues and other events.<\/p>\n

(AP)\u00a0 The suspect in a Christmas parade crash in suburban Milwaukee that killed five people is due in court where five homicide charges were expected to be filed, a crime that can carry the stiffest penalty possible under Wisconsin law \u2014 mandatory life in prison. Other lesser charges were also expected to be filed Tuesday against Darrell Brooks Jr. related to the roughly 50 additional people who were injured when an SUV barreled through the parade route at a high speed, sending people flying through the air. Brooks was free on $1,000 bail posted just two days before the deadly event, a fact that is leading to a review of what happened.<\/p>\n

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) \u2014 A jury has awarded millions of dollars in damages against white nationalist leaders for violence that erupted during the 2017 Unite the Right rally. After a nearly monthlong civil trial, a jury in U.S. District Court in Charlottesville Tuesday deadlocked on two key claims but found the white nationalists liable on four other counts. The jury awarded slightly more than $25 million to nine people who suffered physical or emotional injuries during two days of demonstrations. The lawsuit accused some of the country\u2019s most well-known white nationalists of plotting the violence, including Jason Kessler, the rally\u2019s main organizer; Richard Spencer, who coined the term \u201calt-right\u201d; and Christopher Cantwell, a white supremacist who became known as the \u201ccrying Nazi.\u201d<\/p>\n

(AP)\u00a0 A Missouri judge has ruled that a Kansas City man was wrongfully convicted for three murders and will be released after more than 40 years behind bars. Sixty-two-year-old Kevin Strickland was exonerated on Tuesday. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker and other legal and political leaders worked to free Strickland because they said evidence used to convict him had been recanted or disproven since his conviction in 1979. Attorney General Eric Schmitt fought his release, saying he believes Strickland is guilty. Strickland was convicted in the April 25, 1978, deaths of 21-year-old Larry Ingram, 20-year-old John Walker and 22-year-old Sherrie Black. He has always denied involvement in the murders. Strickland is expected to walk free later Tuesday.<\/p>\n

(AP)\u00a0 The U.S. is in better shape approaching its second Thanksgiving of the pandemic, thanks to the vaccine. But some cold weather regions are reporting surges of COVID-19 cases that could get worse in the days ahead as families travel the country. Nearly 200 million Americans are fully vaccinated. That leaves millions without a shot in the arm. Hospitals in the cold Upper Midwest, especially Michigan and Minnesota, are filled with COVID-19 patients who are mostly unvaccinated. Dr. Rochelle Walensky of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says vaccines make this fall holiday much different.<\/p>\n

(AP)\u00a0 The Biden administration is asking a federal court to let it move ahead with a workplace rule that would require employees at larger companies to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face weekly testing. The mandate is a centerpiece of the administration\u2019s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 as concerns grow that the nation is on the cusp of another winter surge in virus cases and hospitalizations. Republican state attorneys general, conservative organizations and some businesses argued that the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration lacked the authority to mandate vaccines. They were able to persuade a separate federal court to issue a stay of the workplace rule.<\/p>\n
