Men&#8217;s, Women&#8217;s BB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday<\/p>\n<p>UJ Vs, VCSU Basketball<\/p>\n<p>Women&#8217;s Basketball<\/p>\n<p>JAMESTOWN (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/article\/4235\">VCSU<\/a>)\u00a0 \u2013 The Valley City State women&#8217;s basketball team fell to the University of Jamestown after the Jimmies sank 16 3-pointers to down the Vikings 91-68 Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings fall to 3-6 on the season while the Jimmies improve to 4-4 overall.<\/p>\n<p>VCSU freshman <a id=\"rosterLink0\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/4199\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/4199\" data-original-title=\"\">Ashlyn Diemert<\/a> poured in 19 points off the bench and went 8-for-11 from the field Saturday.\u00a0She added four rebounds, a block and a steal in Saturday&#8217;s game.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rosterLink1\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/3939\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/3939\" data-original-title=\"\">Adriana Torres<\/a> added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds while <a id=\"rosterLink2\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/3940\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/3940\" data-original-title=\"\">Taryn Dieterle<\/a> chipped in nine points and four rebounds for the Vikings. <a id=\"rosterLink3\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/3942\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/3942\" data-original-title=\"\">Emma Nielsen<\/a> and <a id=\"rosterLink4\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/4197\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/4197\" data-original-title=\"\">Hailey Roberts<\/a> each dished out four assists Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings held an early advantage Saturday, leading by as much as six points on a bucket from <a id=\"rosterLink5\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/4196\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/4196\" data-original-title=\"\">Bayli Heap<\/a> in the middle of the first quarter. Jamestown finished the\u00a0quarter on a 9-3 run to hold a 21-19 lead after the first ten minutes of the game. Jamestown started to pull away in the second quarter after hitting six 3&#8217;s to hold a 44-29 advantage at the half.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the locker room, <a id=\"rosterLink6\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/3939\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/3939\" data-original-title=\"\">Adriana Torres<\/a> and <a id=\"rosterLink7\" class=\"rosterProfileLink \" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/roster\/49\/2\/4195\" data-url=\"\/SIDHelp\/briefBio\/49\/2\/4195\" data-original-title=\"\">Allie Negen<\/a> combined for 15 points to close the gap to trail by just 10 in the middle of the third quarter, but that&#8217;s as close as the Vikings could get the rest of the way.<\/p>\n<p>VCSU shot 47 percent from the field Saturday (27-57), 28 percent on 3-pointers (7-25) and 39 percent on free throws (7-18). Jamestown shot 52 percent from the field (33-64), 44 percent on 3-pointers (16-36), and 75 percent from the free throw line (9-12).<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown owned the rebounding effort 39-29, including 11 on the offensive glass. Jamestown also totaled 21 assists and six steals while VCSU recorded 13 assists and four steals Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Jamestown had four players score in double figures Saturday, led by Madelyn Schmidt who hit five 3-pointers for 15 points. She added three assists, three rebounds and a steal for the Jimmies. Hannah DeMars added 14 points, Kia Tower finished with 11 and Jailyn Martinson chipped in 10. Kate Busek finished with three steals for Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UP NEXT:<\/strong> Valley City State travels to Minot State for an exhibition doubleheader on Monday. The women&#8217;s game is at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Jimmies\u00a0 Women host Presentation College. at 6 p.m. on November, 29<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>Basketball<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmiepride.com\/SIDHelp\/fullBoxScores\/22\/1\/8849\">Box Score<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p>VALLEY CITY\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcsuvikings.com\/article\/4236\">VCSU<\/a>)\u00a0 \u2013 The Valley City State men&#8217;s basketball team led by as many as five points in the second half Saturday afternoon but could not hang on during a low-scoring road game at No. 10-ranked University of Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings held a 27-26 halftime lead and went up 38-33 early in the second half before Jamestown rallied back for a 66-59 victory.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams were held to their lowest point totals of the season in Saturday&#8217;s rivalry game. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Valley City State as the Vikings drop\u00a0to 7-4 overall this season. Jamestown moves its record to 9-1.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings shot 40 percent Saturday, going 23-for-57 from the field. VCSU was 26 percent from 3-point range (5-19) and 62 percent on free throws (8-13). The Jimmies shot 45 percent overall (24-53), 32 percent on 3&#8217;s (6-19) and 60 percent on free throws (12-20).<\/p>\n<p>VCSU held a big advantage in turnovers, while the Jimmies controlled the glass. The Vikings forced 18 Jamestown turnovers while turning it over just 10 times themselves.
