\"\"Jamestown (CSi)\u00a0 The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to Jamestown Regional Medical Center at 4:19-p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

Lt. Sheldon Mohr says the call was to a second floor employee breakroom where burned food in a microwave oven caused smoke.<\/p>\n

He said, the only damage was to the microwave.\u00a0 Smoke was extracted by the JRMC ventilation unit.<\/p>\n

No injuries reported, the five city fire units and 25 firefighters on the scene about\u00a0 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

\"\"Jamestown\u00a0 (JPD)\u00a0 The Jamestown Police Department is warning the public of a new convicted high risk sex offender who has changed residence within the Jamestown city limits.<\/p>\n

Jason Shawn Gores lives at 1610 Business Loop West, Riverside Motel No. 1. Jamestown, ND 58401<\/p>\n

He presently has no vehicle.<\/p>\n

Gores is a\u00a0 37 year old white male, five feet ten inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.<\/p>\n

He has been assigned a high risk assessment from the North Dakota Risk level Committee, of the North Dakota, Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Offense:\u00a0 Indecent Exposure involving exposing himself to a 12 year old boy.\u00a0 Gores has a long history of unajudicated sexual offenses, and has repeatedly failed treatment and has sexually re-offended while in residential treatment programs.<\/p>\n

Conviction Date:\u00a0 April, 1997, in Ramsey, County, ND Juvenile Court.<\/p>\n

Disposition:\u00a0 One year, custody of DJS.<\/p>\n

Gores is not wanted by police at this time and has served the sentence imposed by the court.<\/p>\n

This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault, or intimidate the offender.<\/p>\n

Any attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten these offenders, their families, landlords, or employers will be turned over for prosecution.<\/p>\n

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 The number of people who have died in November after contracting the coronavirus is a sharp contrast to the same month last year. The North Dakota Department of Health said Monday 85 people have died so far in November as a result of COVID-19, compared to 500 people who succumbed to virus complications in November 2020. The number of active cases peaked on Nov. 13, 2020 when 10,432 people were positive for the coronavirus. A total of 1,877 people have died of COVID-19 so far in North Dakota. Health officials confirmed 152 new coronavirus cases in North Dakota during testing Nov. 28, down 103 cases from the previous day.<\/p>\n

BRUSSELS (AP) \u2014 The World Health Organization says the global risk from the omicron variant of the coronavirus is \u201cvery high\u201d based on early evidence, and it could lead to surges with \u201csevere consequences.\u201d The U.N. health agency, in a technical memo to member states, says \u201cconsiderable uncertainties\u201d remain about the new variant that was first detected in southern Africa. But it says the likelihood of possible further spread around the world is high.<\/p>\n

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) \u2014 A federal judge has blocked President Joe Biden’s administration from enforcing a coronavirus vaccine mandate on health care workers in 10 states. The preliminary injunction issued Monday applies to a coalition of suing states. They are Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. A federal judge in Missouri said the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid had no clear authority from Congress to enact the vaccine mandate for health care providers that participate in the two government programs. The rule requires workers to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Dec. 6 and their second dose by Jan. 4.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Joe Biden is urging Americans to get vaccinated, including booster shots, as he seeks to quell concerns over the newly identified coronavirus variant named omicron. But he said Monday he won’t be seeking any severe business or other widespread lockdown. The new variant is \u201ca cause for concern, not a cause for panic,\u201d the president said in televised remarks from the White House. He was accompanied by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation\u2019s top infectious disease expert. Fauci said Monday that there are as yet no cases of the variant identified in the U.S. but that it is \u201cinevitable\u201d that it will make its way into the country.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 Holiday decorations unveiled for Joe and Jill Biden\u2019s first White House Christmas honor frontline workers who persevered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nurses, doctors, teachers, grocery store workers and others who stayed on the job are recognized in this year’s Gingerbread White House. It was turned into a gingerbread village with the addition of a school, police, fire and gas stations, a hospital, a post office, a grocery store and a warehouse. Volunteer decorators trimmed 41 Christmas trees and hung some 6,000 feet of ribbon and more than 10,000 ornaments. Nearly 79,000 lights illuminate the Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths and other holiday displays.<\/p>\n

WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 A House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection will vote Wednesday to hold a former Justice Department official in contempt of Congress, seeking charges against a defiant witness for a second time after holding former White House aide Steve Bannon in contempt last month. The committee on Monday scheduled a vote to pursue contempt charges against Jeffrey Clark. He’s a former Justice Department lawyer who aligned with President Donald Trump as he tried to overturn his defeat. Clark appeared for a deposition Nov. 5 but told lawmakers that he would not answer questions based partly on Trump\u2019s legal efforts to block the committee\u2019s investigation.<\/p>\n
