SIOUX CITY, Iowa\u00a0 (UJ<\/a>) —\u00a0<\/strong>The top-ranked University of Jamestown volleyball team had their unbeaten season come to an end in the semifinals of the NAIA National Championship Friday, losing 3-0 to No. 4 Park (Mo.) Set scores were 25-15, 25-22, 25-11.<\/p>\n

Jamestown ends the season 35-1 while Park (34-2) advances to the championship match Saturday at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Jimmies never found their footing against the Pirates, falling behind 10-3 before calling its first timeout of the set. Park went ahead 12-3 and stretched the lead to 19-7 to force another UJ timeout. Jamestown had only eight kills and hit .042 while the Pirates hit .271 behind 17 kills and took advantage of six Jimmie attack errors.<\/p>\n

In set two, the teams traded points until Jamestown went ahead 7-6, then Park scored four straight for a three-point lead and a shift in momentum. The Jimmies played from behind until taking leads of 18-17 and 19-18. After Corina Huff<\/a> (SR\/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and Taylor Sabinash<\/a> (SR\/Kensal, N.D.) teamed up for a block to tie the set at 20, Nada Meawad slammed home two kills for a 22-20 lead. Jackie Meiklejohn<\/a> (SR\/Dickey, N.D.)’s ace brought UJ within 23-22, but the Pirates took the final two points and a commanding 2-0 match lead.<\/p>\n

Park continued its strong play with the first four points of the third set, eventually taking a 13-3 lead. The Jimmies hit -.086 in the set, with just five kills. Four attack errors, a serving error\u00a0and a bad set by the Pirates were the other points Jamestown scored, while Park finished with a flourish. The Pirates hit .375 with 16 kills and ended with an overall percentage of .306.<\/p>\n

Anna Holen<\/a> (SR\/LaMoure, N.D.) had nine kills to lead Jamestown. She also added 11 digs. Huff hit .429 and ended with six kills and four blocks. Meiklejohn had 10 assists and nine digs while Megan Gaffaney<\/a> (SR\/Jamestown, N.D.)\u00a0also had ten assists. Ellie Holen<\/a> (SO\/LaMoure, N.D.) led the defense with 17 digs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
