Jamestown\u00a0 (UJ<\/a>)\u00a0 After coming close the the 100-point mark in non-conference wins over Valley City State (N.D.) and Presentation (S.D.), the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team hit triple digits Friday night in a 100-60 win over GPAC opponent Doane (Neb.)<\/p>\n

The Jimmies improve to 7-4 overall, 2-3 in the GPAC, and will host Hastings (Neb.) Saturday at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n

Jamestown led 19-10 after the first, then outscored the Tigers 30-16 in the second to build a 23-point halftime lead.<\/p>\n

UJ continued to build on its lead in the third, going up by as many as 32 after Megan Oswald<\/a> (FR\/Brownsdale, MN)’s three-point play.<\/p>\n

Hannah DeMars<\/a> (JR\/Grand Rapids, MN) led the Jimmies with 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Sarah Lenz<\/a> (FR\/Belle Plaine, MN) had 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three-point range off the bench. Noelle Josephson<\/a> (SR\/Ramsey, MN) was also in double figures with 11 points.<\/p>\n

It was the seventh straight win for the Jimmies against Doane dating back to the 2018-19 season. The Tigers are now 6-4 overall this season, and 1-4 in the GPAC.<\/p>\n

Men<\/p>\n

Jamestown\u00a0 (UJ<\/a>) University shot 78.6 percent in the second half and 61 percent overall Friday night, defeating the 10th-ranked University of Jamestown men’s basketball team 89-82 at Harold Newman Arena.<\/p>\n

Jamestown led by 11 after Mason Walters<\/a> (JR\/Jamestown, ND) sank a pair of free throws with 6:41 left before halftime. The Tigers finished the half on a 15-6 run to make it a two-point game at the break. Walters (13) and John Argue<\/a> (SO\/Houston, TX) (10) combined for 23 points while Will Cordes<\/a> (SO\/Shakopee, MN) and Brady Birch<\/a> (SR\/Melrose, MN) each had six.<\/p>\n

Doane opened up a four-point lead just over two minutes into the second half, but Jamestown came back and held a four-point lead of their own after a Walters basket with 10:30 remaining.<\/p>\n

Four ties and four lead changes over the next six minutes paved the way for a close finish down the stretch. Brady Timm put the Tigers in front for good at 75-74 with 4:56 to play, then the lead grew to five after back-to-back makes by Alec Oberhauser. Doane’s 18-8 over the final six-and-a-half minutes proved to be the difference.<\/p>\n

Walters finished with 32 points and nine rebounds, and Will Cordes<\/a> made six of nine three-point attempts for 18 points. Argue and Birch both chipped in with 10 points each.<\/p>\n
