Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to continue flying the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff through<strong> Sat Dec 11,<\/strong> and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, in honor and remembrance of World War II veteran and former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, who died Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Flags were originally set to return to full-staff Friday, Dec. 10. The president has extended the half-staff order through midnight Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Statement, President Joe Biden:<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>By the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of\u00a0America, and in order to extend the display of the flag at half-staff as a mark of respect for Robert Joseph Dole, it is hereby ordered that Proclamation 10320 of December 3, 2021, is amended by deleting in the first sentence the words \u201cuntil sunset on December 9, 2021\u201d and inserting in their place the words <strong>\u201cthrough Saturday, December 11.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this ninth day of December, in the year of our Lord two\u00a0thousand\u00a0twenty-one, and of the Independence of the United\u00a0States of\u00a0America the two\u00a0hundred and forty-sixth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Previously<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As a mark of respect for Robert Joseph Dole, a statesman like few in<\/div>\n<div>our history and a war hero among the greatest of the Greatest<\/div>\n<div>Generation, I hereby order, by the authority vested in me as<\/div>\n<div>President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of<\/div>\n<div>the United States of America, that the flag of the United States<\/div>\n<div>shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public<\/div>\n<div>buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and<\/div>\n<div>on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of<\/div>\n<div>Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and<\/div>\n<div>possessions until sunset on December 9, 2021.
