MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) \u2014 Authorities say seven members of an immigrant family from Honduras whose bodies were found inside a Minnesota home last weekend died of apparently accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. Relatives of the family discovered the victims Saturday night in a home in south Moorhead when they went to check on them after not hearing from them. Neighbors said the children were last seen Friday. Police Chief Shannon Monroe said Wednesday that the carbon monoxide came from either the home\u2019s furnace or a van in the garage.<\/p>\n

Valley News Live<\/a> has reported that Moorehead Police\u00a0is listing two possible culprits of where the carbon monoxide came from.<\/p>\n

MPD says that the carbon monoxide could have come from the furnace located inside the garage, as well as a vehicle in the garage. Experts are still working to determine which of the two are responsible for the family\u2019s death, which MPD says could take up to eight weeks. Officials say they worked with the state fire marshal and an HVAC professional, but couldn\u2019t get the furnace to recreate a malfunction where carbon monoxide would enter the home. The vehicle was found with a dead battery and half a tank of gas, police said. Officials say there wasn\u2019t any indication that the van was being worked on.<\/p>\n

Officials say detectives found a carbon monoxide detector inside the home that was detached from the wall with the battery removed.<\/p>\n

Family members have described their loved ones as happy people who were relieved to get away from turmoil in Honduras.<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe page has been Set up to return their bodies to Honduras.\u00a0 Other donations have been coming in from th Fargo-Moorehead area.<\/p>\n

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) \u2014 Authorities say preliminary autopsy results show seven people whose bodies were discovered inside a Minnesota home did not die from \u201cany obvious trauma.\u201d Police say all seven victims, including three minors, lived at the residence in south Moorhead. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in St. Paul conducted the autopsies but did not determine a cause of death. Police say blood samples from the victims have been sent to a lab for further examination. The victims were found just before 8 p.m. Saturday by family members conducting a welfare check. of Moorhead , Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Moorhead Police have identified the deceased as members of the Hernandez-Pinto family. They are 37 year old\u00a0 Belin Hernandez, 34 year old Marleny Pinto, 16 year old Breylin Hernandez, 7 year old Mike Hernandez, 5 year old Marbely Hernandez, 32 year old\u00a0 Eldor Hernandez Castillo, and\u00a0 19 year old Mariela Guzman Pinto.<\/p>\n

Police said the seven relatives were living at the home at 4403 13th St. S. where their bodies were found.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
