A widespread 1-3 inches is possible by the end of Christmas Day with the higher totals to the southeast and lower (likely<\/a> below and inch) far north.<\/p>\n Finally, a fourth round is expected Sunday into Monday. This system may last a little longer, and has the potential to bring slightly more snow. Stay tuned for later statements on these events.<\/p>\n Colder each day Monday through Wednesday along with additional chances for snow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Valley City\u00a0 (CSi) Authorities are investigating a two vehicle crash about 10-a.m., Thursday, on I-94 near Mile Marker, 295 east of Valley City eastbound .<\/p>\n The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that a 2022 Freightliner towing a reefer trailer\u00a0 was operated by 59 year old Andre Lapchin, of Laval, Quebec \u2013he was not injured, neither was his passenger 64 yer old\u00a0 Victor Kuzmitsky, also of Laval, Quebec.<\/p>\n A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 59 year old Michael Steinke of Hope, ND, was towing a 20 ft flatbed trailer. After the collision, the Freightliner came to rest disabled across both lanes of eastbound I-94. The Chevrolet jack knifed and came to rest on the eastbound shoulder. The load of lumber was spilled into the south ditch and onto the shoulder during the collision.<\/p>\n Traffic was impacted with alternating lane closures for approximate 2 \u00bc hours while the scene was cleared.<\/p>\n There were no injuries in the crash. The jury announced it reached an outcome in Kim Potter\u2019s manslaughter trial on Thursday. A court spokesman says he doesn’t know if reaching an outcome means it reached a verdict. The jury began deliberating on Monday. State sentencing guidelines call for a maximum term of just over seven years in prison for a first-degree manslaughter conviction and four years in prison for a second-degree manslaughter conviction, but prosecutors have said they plan to push for longer sentences for the former Brooklyn Center officer.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Authorities are investigating how a fatal explosion occurred at an oil field business. The Bismarck Tribune reports a water tanker blew out at JM Oilfield Services near Ross on Saturday. The Mountrail County Sheriff’s Office says 33-year-old employee Jesse Holmquist was killed in the blast. Another employee was injured and taken to a hospital. Both employees had been working on changing the tanker’s tires. The sheriff’s department says Holmquist was a resident of Sidney, Montana. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked in the oil fields of North Dakota and Montana and drove a commercial truck across the country.<\/p>\n SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) \u2014 Minnesota-based Medtronic has agreed to pay $400,000 to South Dakota to resolve allegations that it paid kickbacks to a neurosurgeon. The settlement resolves allegations that Medtronic paid for more than 100 social events at a restaurant owned by Dr. Wilson Asfora. Medtronic allegedly sponsored the events over a nine-year period to persuade Asfora to use Medtronic products. The agreement is the latest settlement involving the former Sanford Health neurosurgeon. Sanford Health had already agreed to pay $20 million to settle its role in the kickback scheme. And, last year Medtronic agreed to pay $9.2 million to the federal government.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 A jury has awarded a North Dakota man and two oil field companies associated with him almost $4 million in a legal dispute. The Bismarck Tribune reports that Southwest Judicial District Judge William Herauf signed the final order in the case on Tuesday. The jury ruled in favor of Shawn Kluver, Seven Star Holdings and Little Knife Disposal in October. Kluver sued oil field service providers Environmental Driven Solutions and Renewable Resources after they fired him in 2017, seeking salary and severance payments. The two companies filed a countersuit against him and others, alleging he created other companies to compete against them while he was still working for them. \nSteinke was eastbound on I-94 with a load of lumber in the bed of the truck and on the flatbed trailer. He was traveling in the right lane of eastbound I-94 when he was rear-ended by Lapchin.<\/p>\n

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) \u2014 Jurors have convicted a suburban Minneapolis police officer of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Black motorist Daunte Wright. The jury deliberated for about four days before finding Kim Potter guilty of both counts on Thursday. Potter, who is white, was a Brooklyn Center police officer when she shot and killed the 20-year-old Wright during an April 11 traffic stop. Potter has said she mistook her handgun for a Taser while she and other officers were trying to arrest Wright on an outstanding warrant for a weapons possession charge. She faces about seven years in prison on the most serious count under the state\u2019s sentencing guidelines, but prosecutors said they\u2019d seek a longer term.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Keiser-George.jpg\")
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) \u2014 Bismarck Rep. George Keiser, a longtime Republican North Dakota lawmaker who announced last week he would not seek another term in the Legislature, has died. Keiser died Wednesday at age 75. In 2019, Keiser disclosed his diagnosis of Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease, the common name for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a nervous system disease that weakens muscles. Gov. Doug Burgum said in a statement that Keiser served the citizens of North Dakota with \u201cpassion and dedication for nearly three decades.\u201d Keiser was a U.S. Army veteran who owned Quality Printing Service. He also served on the Bismarck City Commission from 1988-92.<\/p>\n
