Biden, Jr., on December 29, 2021, flags were ordered to be flown at half-staff\u00a0on the date of interment\u00a0for former United States Senator Harry Reid of Nevada.<\/p>\n<p>The date of interment has now been set by the family.\u00a0Flags should be flown at half-staff on Saturday, January 8, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>A Proclamation on the Death of Harry\u00a0Reid<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DECEMBER 29, 2021<\/p>\n<p>From humble roots in Searchlight, Nevada, Harry Reid rose to\u00a0become one of the great Senate Majority Leaders in American history.\u00a0He was a man of action, and a man of his word \u2014 guided by faith, loyalty, and unshakeable resolve.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his long career of public service, Harry Reid was instrumental in passing landmark legislation that made a positive difference in the lives of countless Americans and made our Nation stronger and safer.\u00a0His devoted service to our Nation was not about power for power\u2019s sake.\u00a0It was about the power to do right by the American people.<\/p>\n<p>As a mark of respect for his memory, I\u00a0hereby order, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United\u00a0States of America, <strong>that\u00a0on the day of his interment, the flag of the United\u00a0States shall be flown at half-staff\u00a0<\/strong>at the White\u00a0House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all\u00a0naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United\u00a0States and its Territories and\u00a0possessions until sunset on such day.\u00a0I also direct that the\u00a0flag shall be flown at\u00a0half-staff for the same period at all United\u00a0States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and\u00a0stations.<\/p>\n<p>IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-ninth day of December, in the year of our Lord two\u00a0thousand\u00a0twenty-one, and of the Independence of the United\u00a0States of\u00a0America the two\u00a0hundred and forty-sixth.<\/p>\n<p>JOSEPH R.
