{"id":242961,"date":"2022-01-11T16:41:22","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T22:41:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=242961"},"modified":"2022-01-13T11:32:16","modified_gmt":"2022-01-13T17:32:16","slug":"lecture-series-returning-to-barnes-historical-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=242961","title":{"rendered":"Lecture Series Returning to Barnes Historical Society"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Barnes County Historical Society in Valley City plans the return of the Lecture Series, Season 21, at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum 315 Central Ave N in Valley City.<\/p>\n<p>The news release from Wes Anderson says, &#8220;The annual lecture series is a tradition that began in 1998 by Dr. Robert Kibbler, then of VCSU, and we\u2019re proud to say it has continued this long with so many wonderful presentations covering a wide variety of topics over the years.\u00a0 COVID threw a monkey-wrench into the works of everything in 2020 and Season 21 was put on hold.\u00a0 With the uncertainties of 2021 we didn\u2019t even plan for a season.\u00a0 BUT, for 2022 we\u2019re going to try to get things restarted again and pick up where we left off.\u00a0 Mark your calendars now but also note that things are subject to change as the circumstances with COVID do.<\/p>\n<p>The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 21 Presents:\u00a0 Seth Cox, Dakota Specialty Milling \u201cBaking 101: Baking Science for the Home Baker.\u201d 7PM Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Barnes<\/p>\n<p>Baking 101: Baking Science for the Home Baker will cover the history of wheat (and other grains), milling, and baking including the evolution of all of these.\u00a0 We\u2019ll learn about the function of ingredients and the why behind the processing of ingredients and baking.\u00a0 Basic formulation and how to balance the ingredients and baking will be discussed.\u00a0 Baking with whole grains and nutritional concerns associated with baked goods will be discussed.\u00a0 There will be time for questions and answers during the presentation and afterward.<\/p>\n<p>Seth Cox has spent 40 years in milling and baking science with a focus on the science and the development of new products.\u00a0 Currently, he is working in Fargo as director of research for Dakota Specialty Milling that provides the world with milled grain products and baking blends from wheat bran to Fonio and has worked as a director of Quality Assurance and Research starting in 1982 beginning with baking mixes from biscuits, to quick breads, to Low Carb Hot Pockets.\u00a0 Most recently Seth worked as a Baking Science instructor for the American Institute of Baking (AIB).<\/p>\n<p>The public is cordially invited.\u00a0 Due to COVID, we\u2019re requesting appropriate masks be worn at this time, please.<\/p>\n<p>All Lectures are at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum and held in conjunction with Valley City State University.\u00a0 They are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>For more information contact Wes Anderson at 701-845-0966.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Valley City\u00a0 (CSi)\u00a0 The Barnes County Historical Society in Valley City plans the return of the Lecture Series, Season 21, at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum 315 Central Ave N in Valley City.
