Another rainout in New York<\/p>\n

UNDATED (AP) \u2014 The weather continues to complicate the Major League Baseball schedule, a day after six games were rained out. The series opener between the Yankees and the Texas Rangers has been postponed for a second straight day because of a forecast for sustained rain in New York. It\u2019s been rescheduled for Monday at 1:05 p.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n

The Rangers and Yankees were rained out Friday night as well. That game will be made up Sunday as part of a single-admission doubleheader beginning at 1:35 p.m. This weekend marks the Rangers\u2019 only scheduled trip to Yankee Stadium this season.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays-Guardians in Cleveland and Dodgers-Cubs at Wrigley Field are playing split doubleheaders Saturday after rainouts Friday.<\/p>\n

KENTUCKY DERBY<\/strong><\/p>\n

20 horses, full house: Kentucky Derby returns with no limits<\/p>\n

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) \u2014 Twenty colts will break from the starting gate in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. The 148th edition of America\u2019s longest continuously held sporting event returns with a full house of about 150,000 fans at Churchill Downs for the first time after two years of COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n

Zandon is the early 3-1 favorite, trained by Chad Brown. Horse racing\u2019s best-known trainer, Bob Baffert, won\u2019t be in Louisville. He\u2019s been banned for two years by Churchill Downs. Two horses he previously trained, Messier and Taiba, will be saddled by Tim Yakteen.<\/p>\n

SOCCER-CHELSEA OWNERSHIP<\/p>\n

Chelsea being sold for $3B to LA Dodgers owners, investors<\/p>\n

LONDON (AP) \u2014 English soccer club Chelsea is being sold to a consortium fronted by Los Angeles Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly. The sale ends 19 years of ownership and lavish investment by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, who was sanctioned and forced to offload the Premier League club over the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The sale price of $3.1 billion is the highest ever for a sports team worldwide. But Abramovich cannot receive the proceeds, which he hopes will go to a foundation for the victims of the war.<\/p>\n

After several rival bids were rejected, Chelsea said Saturday that buyout terms had been agreed with a consortium that features Boehly along with Dodgers principal owner Mark Walter, Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss and funding from private equity firm Clearlake Capital.<\/p>\n

The Premier League must approve them as the new ownership and the government has to sign off under the terms of the license that allows Chelsea to continue operating as a business through May 31 while being one of Abramovich\u2019s frozen assets.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz beats Djokovic to reach Madrid Open final<\/p>\n

MADRID (AP) \u2014 Rafael Nadal one day, Novak Djokovic the next. The list of victims of Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz keeps growing, and so does the hype over tennis\u2019 newest sensation.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old Alcaraz rallied to beat top-ranked Djokovic 6-7, 7-5, 7-6 Saturday to reach the Madrid Open final, a day after he defeated his idol Nadal in the quarterfinals. Alcaraz converted on his third match point to clinch the victory in front of raucous home support.<\/p>\n
