{"id":248621,"date":"2022-05-19T01:44:43","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T06:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=248621"},"modified":"2022-05-20T10:14:57","modified_gmt":"2022-05-20T15:14:57","slug":"barnes-county-historical-society-lecture-series-may-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=248621","title":{"rendered":"Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series May 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/BarnesMuseum1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-248903\" src=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/BarnesMuseum1-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/BarnesMuseum1-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/BarnesMuseum1-260x175.jpg 260w, http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/BarnesMuseum1.jpg 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>(BCHS) The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 21 Presents: \u00a0Will Brink &#8220;Veterans in Transition; From combat to your neighborhood&#8221; 7 PM Thursday, May 19th at the Barnes County Museum.<\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">If you ask folks who have been in combat what they fought for-they will tell you \u201ceach other\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">However, the bigger picture includes the threat to our safety represented by Russia, China, and other Rogue countries and states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">&#8220;The Squad&#8221; is a book that is simply written and consists of interviews, treatment episodes, and the insight of men and women who have made a successful transition back to life during and after their military enlistment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">In this book, it will become clear that there is a role we all have in reducing the veteran suicide rate that currently fluctuates from \u00a015 to 22 a day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">There is no continent nor ocean that does not have a U.S. citizen serving on our behalf to protect and oversee those who would threaten our society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">It is because of that that we need to discuss how we can support and encourage such folks to continue to do this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">We can assist these veterans in their transition when it\u2019s time for them to return to our neighborhoods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">The fight to transition to civilian life some experts believe is as scary as dealing with PTSD, or PTS symptoms as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">What\u2019s different now for our servicemen and women?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">The 15\/22 folks who desperately take their life on this day need YOU to be available to help them realize they have fought for the right to be cared for by U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">The SQUAD models for others that life as a Veteran new or older is valued and VALUABLE.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">To write and encourage others to create a contract for life is our way to support the reduction of Suicides among those who volunteer daily to watch over U.S. The role we have to participate in that contract is flexible but extremely important.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">William D. Brink, (Will) was an MS\/LAC Licensed Addiction Counselor for over 44 years, and a Vietnam Veteran serving in a Helicopter Recovery unit. \u00a0He was a consultant to BCBS of North Dakota and last worked at Prairie St. Johns in Fargo providing clinical services to Veterans and civilians alike. \u00a0He previously practiced in Minnesota, North Carolina, and oversaw a halfway house and social detox center in NC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">Will is currently active in contributing to the welfare of veterans of all branches and has recently written, \u201cThe Squad\u201d, which addresses; transition and suicidal issues of our service members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">Book revenue has been given to support the educational needs of veterans wanting to join the counseling field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">Will resides in South Carolina and Minnesota while supporting treatment and intervention efforts to assist our men and women military personnel through OPFOB, \u00a0SCVA, VPA, and other causes that educate treat, or assist Veterans in \u2026.Coming Home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">The public is cordially invited<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">All Lectures are at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum and held in conjunction with Valley City State University. \u00a0They are free and open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-text=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-text=\"true\">For more information contact Wes Anderson at 701-845-0966<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(BCHS) The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 21 Presents: \u00a0Will Brink &#8220;Veterans in Transition; From combat to your neighborhood&#8221; 7 PM Thursday, May 19th at the Barnes County Museum. \u00a0If you ask folks who have been in combat what they fought for-they will tell you \u201ceach other\u201d.
