Vehicle No. 1: 2016 Can-Am Spyder RT
Driver No. 1: Charles Hiram Bekkerus, 75-year-old male, Fargo, ND, Fatal
Restraints: Helmet Worn
Charges: N\/A
NARRATIVE : The Can-Am was eastbound on County Highway 16, 1.5 miles west of County
Highway 17. The motorcycle left the roadway and entered the south ditch. After driving into a
sunflower field, Bekkerus fell from the motorcycle. The motorcycle continued a short distance
before coming to rest up right on its wheels. The motorcycle sustained minor damage from
the crash.
Bekkerus was wearing a helmet while operating the vehicle. A passerby noticed the
motorcycle in the field and contacted emergency services. Bekkerus was transported to
Essentia Health for treatment of injuries but later passed away.
