Oakes, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Aug 22, 2013) — The Fargo man who fled from the scene of a two-vehicle accident and into a corn field in Northern Dickey County on Wednesday morning was found and taken into custody in Oakes, on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

He was picked up at the Travel Inn Motel in Oakes, after receiving a tip that he had registered their under an alias.<\/p>\n

Ekstom was arrested without incident shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n

He was taken by ambulance to the Oakes Community Hospital for treatment of injuries.<\/p>\n

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says he will be charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident, and additional charges are likely.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported, a\u00a0crash about six miles north of Oakes,\u00a0 Wednesday totaled two cars and resulted in authorities searching for a man in a cornfield.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 Highway Patrol said 26 year old Kyle Severance,\u00a0 of Dickey, was driving a 2000 Ford F250 northbound on North Dakota Highway 1 at about 11:18 a.m. when a 2003 Ford F250 failed to yield at the stop intersection on 81st Street Southeast.<\/p>\n

The second pickup, driven by 37 year old Gabriel Ekstrom,\u00a0 of Fargo, struck the passenger side of Severance\u2019s pickup, as both vehicles\u00a0 entered the east ditch of Highway 1 and came to rest upright.<\/p>\n

Severance and the two passengers in Ekstrom\u2019s car, 33 yearold Nathaniel Nash,\u00a0 of Fargo, and 24 year old Jose Montero,\u00a0 of West Fargo,\u00a0\u00a0received \u00a0non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Oakes Hospital.<\/p>\n

Both cars were totaled.<\/p>\n

Ekstrom fled on foot from the crash scene into a 300 plus\u00a0acre cornfield. An extensive search was conducted to locate Ekstrom, including a K-9 Unit,\u00a0but he was not found.<\/p>\n

About an hour after the initial search ended, Ekstrom was spotted more than one mile from the crash scene fleeing into another cornfield.\u00a0 \u00a0Another search was conducted, and Ekstrom was not located.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dickey County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Oakes Police Department, Sargent County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Oakes Fire Department and Ransom County Sheriff\u2019s Office were also on scene.<\/p>\n

OAKES, N.D. (AP Aug 21, 2013) – North Dakota authorities are looking for a driver who ran away from a crash north of Oakes and might be hiding in a corn field.<\/p>\n

The driver of\u00a0 a \u00a0company\u00a0\u00a0truck from Hickson, North Dakota\u00a0 fled the scene of an accident \u00a0by running into a corn field in northern Dickey County late Wednesday morning.\u00a0 It’s unclear if he’s injured.<\/p>\n

The truck collided with another vehicle at the intersection of North Dakota Highway 1 and Dickey County Road 1 around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The accident injured\u00a0three people, the driver of the other vehicle, and two passengers in the truck who were\u00a0 taken to the Oakes Community Hospital.\u00a0 Their conditions haven’t been released.<\/p>\n

The \u00a0North Dakota Highway Patrol brought in K-9 units to search for the man, before calling off the search a few hours after the crash.\u00a0 The man is a non-violent offender.<\/p>\n
