LE MARS, Iowa (UJ<\/a>) —\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Jamestown men’s golf team is tied for eighth place after the first 36 holes of the NW Iowa National Invitational, which is being played at the par-72, 6,701-yard Willow Creek Golf Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jimmies finished the day with a team score of 601 (307-294) and are tied with Grand View (Iowa) University (308-293). Bellevue (Neb.) University is in first with a 579 (288-291).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin Schaefer<\/a> (JR\/New Rockford, N.D.) is one of four players who shot under par Monday, and is in third place at 2-under 142 (72-70). Jackson Worner<\/a> (SR\/West Fargo, N.D.) is tied for 11th at 2-over 146 (76-70), Max Noffsinger<\/a> (SO\/Ft. Collins, Colo.) is tied for 40th at 9-over 153 (78-75), Gehrig Geiss<\/a> (SO\/Glen Ullin, N.D.) is tied for 61st at 17-over 161 (82-79), and Logan Douglas<\/a> (FR\/Stanley, England) is tied for 64th at 18-over 162 (81-81).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was really proud of our guys today,” said UJ head coach Zach Hale<\/a>. “They bounced back after a rough opening 18 this morning. This is one of the strongest fields we have been in (in my time as coach). We have set ourselves up with a great opportunity tomorrow. We need to continue believing in ourselves and our abilities and great things will happen!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
