(AP) \u2013 Kevin Locke, an acclaimed Native American flute player, hoop dancer, cultural ambassador and educator, has died in South Dakota at age 68, according to his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kevin Locke Hoop Dance Aug 2013 Jamestown ND\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RL175QMD9jw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and from the ancestral line of Lakota and Anishinabe, Locke died Friday night after returning to his hotel room in Hill City, his son Ohiyes\u00e1 Locke said Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The younger Locke said his father, who had been performing at the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills, suffered an asthma attack and died while he was being taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ohiyes\u00e1 Locke said he had been video chatting with his father several hours before he died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video above is when Mr. Locke was at the Frontier Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous <a href=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=24394\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=24394\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CSiNewsNow 2013 Story &amp; Photos<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HILL CITY, S.D.
