ORANGE CITY, Iowa-(UJ)-\u00a0<\/strong>The Jimmie baseball team wrapped up its weekend series against Doane (Neb.) University Saturday afternoon, with the Tigers winning 12-2 in the opener and 11-6 in game two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers hit four home runs in game one, including three two-run shots by Joe Osborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ben Patton<\/a> gave UJ a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second with a double that scored Hayden Brown<\/a>. Doane took the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third, and one more in the fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kendall Yackley<\/a>‘s sacrifice fly with one out in the bottom of the fourth cut the Tigers’ lead to 3-2, then Doane broke the game open with a six-spot in the fifth before adding three more in the sixth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex Tolbert<\/a> and Ben Patton<\/a> both had a pair of hits for UJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A solo home run by Xander Orejudos<\/a> and a two-run double from Triston Madison<\/a> had Jamestown ahead 3-2 after two innings in Saturday’s second game. Doane retook the lead after scoring four runs in the top of the fourth to make it 6-3. Orejudos cut into the Tiger lead with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, but Doane tacked on two more runs in the sixth. Yackley drove in a run in the sixth and Troy Berg<\/a> homered in the eighth to round out the Jamestown scoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berg and Madsion each went 2-for-3 to lead the Jimmies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamestown, now 17-15 overall and 6-8 in the GPAC, is scheduled to host Dordt (Iowa) University for doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
