(AP) &#8211; A federal judge has dismissed part of a lawsuit challenging a new North Dakota law that blocks abortions on the grounds of genetic defect or unwanted gender.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The state&#8217;s sole abortion clinic in Fargo filed the lawsuit in June challenging the law and another new measure that bans abortion when a fetal heartbeat is detected.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Red River Women&#8217;s Clinic says the ban on abortions based on gender or genetic defects doesn&#8217;t affect the clinic because it doesn&#8217;t perform abortions for those reasons.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland on Monday granted the clinic&#8217;s request to drop that part of the lawsuit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BISMARCK, N.D.
