YANKTON, S.D.–<\/strong> The Jimmie baseball team won its fifth straight game Sunday with a sweep of Mount Marty University. UJ won the opener 8-5 then held on for a 5-4 win in game two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game 1:<\/strong>
Six runs in the fourth inning ended up being the difference for Jamestown in an 8-5 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kendall Yackley<\/a> and Xander Orejudos<\/a> hit back-to-back home runs to open the game, but the Lancers answered with a pair of runs in the second to tie the game at 2-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UJ loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fourth, and Alex Alva<\/a> came through with a pinch-hit single to give the Jimmies a one-run lead. Troy Berg<\/a> cleared the bases with a double to center and Jamestown opened up a 6-2 lead. One out later, Orejudos doubled to score Berg, and then came home on Triston Madison<\/a>‘s single to left center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount Marty cut into the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth and added another in the sixth but got no closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orejudos finished with a pair of hits and scored twice. Luke Zimmer<\/a> improved to 7-1 on the mound, giving up four earned runs in 5 1\/3 innings. Hayden Brown<\/a> recorded his fifth save with 1 2\/3 innings of scoreless relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game 2:<\/strong>
Hayden Brown<\/a>‘s two-run triple and Jordan Singleton<\/a>‘s RBI single in the third inning helped the Jimmies to a 4-0 lead and they held on for a 5-4 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singleton drove in Kendall Yackley<\/a> with a first inning double to make it 1-0 before UJ added to the lead in the third. Mount Marty made it a two-run game after scoring in the fifth to make it 4-2, and Jamestown got one of those runs back in the seventh on Isaiah Roebuck<\/a>‘s pinch-hit single with two outs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lancers had a golden opportunity to tie the game or take the lead in the eighth. Trailing 5-4, Mount Marty loaded the bases and had only one out before Yackley came on in relief and retired the next two hitters with no further damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singleton had a 4-for-4 game at the plate while Yackley recorded a pair of hits and his fourth save of the year. Michael Demand<\/a> (1-0), the second of five Jimmie pitchers, worked 2 2\/3 innings and struck out two to get the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
