Jamestown, ND – The Jimmie baseball team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a sweep of Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University at Jack Brown Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jamestown won the opener 5-4 and took game two by a score of 15-2. UJ’s record improves to 27-17 overall and 16-10 in conference play, while the TIgers finish 11-32 overall and 6-22 in the GPAC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Game 1: UJ 5, DWU 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Troy Berg<\/a>‘s one-out single in the bottom of the seventh scored Ben Patton<\/a> with the winning run in a 5-4 Jimmie victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jamestown led 4-3 in the top of the seventh, but Caleb Meyers led off the inning with a home run to tie the game. In the bottom half, Julian Sansores<\/a> drew a walk and was replaced by Patton. Chase Burke<\/a> put down a sacrifice bunt to move Patton into scoring position, then Berg singled to left to drive in Burke from second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Triston Madison<\/a>‘s solo home run in the bottom of the first put the Jimmies on the board, cutting the Tiger lead to 2-1. Burke homered to start the third inning and brought UJ level at 2-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Jimmies added to their one-run lead in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run by Berg. Berg finished 2-for-3 at the plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Payson Mills<\/a> started for Jamestown and struck out four in five innings, allowing two runs on four hits but did not factor in the decision. Kendall Yackley<\/a> (3-1) was credited with the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Game 2: UJ 15, DWU 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Hayden Brown<\/a> and Kendall Yackley<\/a> each hit two-run home runs in the bottom of the second as part of a five-run inning, and the Jimmies cruised to a 15-2 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n UJ doubled their lead with another five runs in the third, then tacked on three more in the fourth. Alex Alva<\/a> hit a two-run homer and Yackley singled home Troy Berg<\/a> to make it 13-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alva and Alex Tolbert<\/a> each drove in a run for Jamestown in the fifth to round out the scoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Jimmies finished the game with 11 hits, including three by Yackley and two each by Brown and Alva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trei Hough<\/a> (3-3) pitched four innings and allowed two runs on three hits while striking out seven.
