PAUL, Minn. &#8212;<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jordan-staal-8473533\">Jordan Staal<\/a>&nbsp;had a goal and an assist for the Carolina Hurricanes in a 3-2 win against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAny time you go down and you\u2019re able to battle back, it\u2019s good,\u201d Carolina defenseman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jaccob-slavin-8476958\">Jaccob Slavin<\/a>\u00a0said. \u201cA confidence boost to know that you can do it, that you can come from behind and squeak out two points. It\u2019s good for the team, good for our confidence, but we can be better, too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/stefan-noesen-8476474\">Stefan Noesen<\/a>&nbsp;scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/andrei-svechnikov-8480830\">Andrei Svechnikov<\/a>&nbsp;also scored for the Hurricanes (35-18-6), who had lost two in a row.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/pyotr-kochetkov-8481611\">Pyotr Kochetkov<\/a>&nbsp;made 28 saves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noesen gave Carolina a 3-2 lead at 11:02 of the third period when&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jack-drury-8480835\">Jack Drury<\/a>\u2019s shot from in front was saved by Gustavsson but deflected in off his visor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe needed to get some of those [flukey goals], we haven\u2019t had any in forever,\u201d Hurricanes coach Rod Brind\u2019Amour said. \u201cThat was nice to see. Eventually they kind of even out, supposedly, but I think we\u2019re still due a few more of those. But we\u2019ll take it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/connor-dewar-8480980\">Connor Dewar<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jonas-brodin-8476463\">Jonas Brodin<\/a>&nbsp;scored, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/ryan-hartman-8477451\">Ryan Hartman<\/a>&nbsp;had two assists for the Wild (28-25-6), who had won two straight and three of their past four.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/filip-gustavsson-8479406\">Filip Gustavsson<\/a>&nbsp;made 25 saves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI thought it was a hard-fought battle,\u201d Minnesota coach John Hynes said. \u201cI really liked our game. I thought, particularly in the second period, I thought we controlled the play and didn&#8217;t give much up. But it\u2019s the little details of things. It\u2019s the end of a long shift. We get to that area of the ice. Those are must-make plays that [have] got to go in. And then we came out in the third, I thought we still played well enough to win, and obviously they get a bounce [right after a] power play.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dewar gave the Wild a 1-0 lead at 10:10 of the first period, spinning and scoring on a wrist shot from the slot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Staal tied it 1-1 at 15:26 with a backhand off a rebound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brodin put Minnesota back ahead 2-1 at 19:39 with a shot through traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday, I think it was just a lucky bounce,\u201d Brodin said. \u201cIt\u2019s a good thing [Hartman] was in the front of the net there. I don\u2019t think [Kochetkov] saw a lot there. I didn\u2019t have time to make a good shot, so I just tried to throw it there as quick as I could. Luckily, it went in. So, today it was just lucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019ve been trying to shoot more. That\u2019s where things happen and goals get scored.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Svechnikov tied it 2-2 at 19:35 of the second period when his wrist shot down low slipped between Gustavsson\u2019s pads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what we got to do every game, just stay focused,\u201d Svechnikov said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTES:<\/strong>\u00a0Hurricanes defenseman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jalen-chatfield-8478970\">Jalen Chatfield<\/a>\u00a0was minus-1 with two shots, two hits and one blocked shot in 15:32 of ice time in his first game back after missing the previous four with an upper-body injury. \u2026 Gustavsson played in his 100th career game. \u2026 Wild forward\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/kirill-kaprizov-8478864\">Kirill Kaprizov<\/a>\u00a0had his eight-game point streak end (seven goals, 11 assists).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
