A 2024 Ford Edge driven by Joann Burt was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of US Highway 2 to access a median crossover to travel west from a private driveway. Lucas steered left to avoid a collision but was unable to do so and struck Burt at a right angle. Burt was transported by ambulance to CHI Saint Alexius Hospital in Devils Lake where she died from injuries sustained in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NDHP &#8211; On August 2 at 9:58 a Semi driven by Glen Lucas was traveling eastbound on US Highway 2 in Lane 2 adjacent to the right shoulder of the roadway.
