The Twins on Friday announced they’ve placed right-handed pitcher Joe Ryan<\/a> on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain (retroactive to Thursday). Ryan was removed from his start on Wednesday in the bottom of the third inning with the injury. The club also placed infielder Brooks Lee<\/a> on the 10-day injured list with right bicep tendinitis (retroactive to Thursday).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To replace Ryan and Lee on the roster, Minnesota selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Scott Blewett from Triple-A St. Paul and returned infielder Kyle Farmer from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins transferred right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart<\/a> (right shoulder strain) to the 60-day injured list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryan has gone 7-7 with a 3.60 ERA (135.0 IP, 54 ER), 23 walks and 147 strikeouts in 23 starts for the Twins this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee, who made his Major League debut on July 3, has hit .253 (25-for-99) with two doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI, nine walks, two stolen bases, eight runs scored and a .642 OPS in 26 games for the Twins this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blewett, who signed with the Twins as a Minor League free agent in January, has gone 5-2 with a 3.66 ERA (51.2 IP, 21 ER), 17 walks, 52 strikeouts and a 1.37 WHIP in 36 games (3 starts) for the Saints this season. The 28-year-old was originally selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft and appeared in five Major League games for the Royals from 2020-21, posting a 3.38 ERA (8.0 IP, 3 ER) with six walks and eight strikeouts in those games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farmer has missed the Twins\u2019 last 18 games with a right shoulder strain. He played in three games on rehab assignment with the Saints, going 3-for-11 with two doubles, one RBI and one walk. The 33-year-old has played in 63 games for Minnesota this season, hitting .189 (25-for-132) with 10 doubles, 15 RBI, 13 walks, three stolen bases and 15 runs scored.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
