Hi Everybody, Hopefully you arranged time to watch some of the Olympic Games from Paris. There were many great performances and heartwarming examples of sportsmanship and people coming together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last week the Beautification Committee was mentioned as needing help, but there are many organizations needing help. Churches, schools, service clubs, Senior Center, your neighbors and some folks who could \u201cjust use a hand\u201d. Perhaps one or more of these aforementioned has played a part in your life and now you can \u201cgive back\u201d. Even your city is often looking to fill committees and in two years there is another city election. How about volunteering for a committee and\/or run for office? All of the above can be gratifying and heartwarming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major League Baseball (MLB), Dave Winfield, Jack Morris, Paul Molitor & Joe Mauer are from St. Paul, MN and have all been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. It is very unique occurrence for a small market community. Joe Mauer was the first pick in the 2001 draft by his hometown team and played his entire 15-year major league career for the Minnesota Twins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few nice thoughts for us who are a bit \u201colder\u201d: \u201cThe older you get the more you realize how precious life is. You have no desire for drama, conflict or stress. You just want good friends, a cozy home, food on the table, and people who make you happy\u201d. ~ Anonymous<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The summer construction season is unhandy for us as citizens, but it also adds to the everyday workload of our whole city staff. A big \u201cThank you\u201d to all city employees, we are grateful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A cousin of mine has \u201cA rule of three\u201d. If something comes to his mind three times he needs to address it. The other day a friend came to mind again so I called, we had a great 20-minute visit that just \u201cflew by\u201d.
