Minnesota United\u2019s newest Designated Player, Kelvin Yeboah, earned a place on the Team of the Matchday 29 bench behind a brace in his first MLS appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though the Loons ultimately lost the match, Yeboah\u2019s quality and constant threat were obvious from the very first whistle. His finishing ability alone was enough for the new forward to stand out, with a well-taken penalty putting the Black and Blue on the board before his fantastic chip in the second half leveled the score at two apiece. Beyond his finishing touch, the 24-year-old attacker played with a contagious freedom and belief that elevated the game of each of his teammates, helping them to score multiple goals in a regular season game against the Sounders for the first time in club history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those who are familiar with Yeboah\u2019s career before arriving in Minnesota, Saturday\u2019s brace likely wasn\u2019t terribly surprising. The Ghanaian-Italian striker has played in some of Europe\u2019s biggest leagues in his relatively short career, and goals have followed him wherever he\u2019s gone. His mixture of speed and 1v1 ability make him a terror to defend, and that was on full display in his debut match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With eight games remaining in the regular season, Yeboah and his new teammates have plenty of time to grow together and pick up a few results in their playoff pursuit. If this performance is any indication of what\u2019s to come, it seems like Yeboah will have quite the tenure as a Loon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
