EAGAN, Minn. \u2013<\/strong> The Vikings have secured Harrison Phillips through the 2026 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minnesota agreed to a two-year extension with the defensive tackle Tuesday, the team announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips replied to a post about the deal by NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero on X:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips spent his first four NFL seasons in Buffalo after being drafted 96th<\/sup> overall in 2018. Since then, he’s played 79 games (45 starts) for the Bills and Vikings and totaled 258 tackles, 6.0 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, four fumble recoveries and six passes defensed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips has started all 35 regular-season games he’s played for Minnesota and played a career-high 839 defensive snaps last season. He recorded a single-season-high 3.0 sacks, all of them in road games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vikings defensive line helped the squad allow just 3.76 yards per rush in 2023, the fourth-best mark in the NFL, and only two rushing plays of 20 yards or more, which tied for the third fewest by a team in the past 30 years. Only the 2010 Steelers (one) and 1997 Jaguars (one) allowed fewer 20-yard rushing plays in a season over that span.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 28-year-old also has contributed significantly beyond the field, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips was Minnesota’s nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2023 in recognition of his hands-on work with Harrison\u2019s Playmakers<\/a>, his nonprofit committed to coaching and mentoring children facing social, physical and economic challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He regularly joins Vikings Community Tuesday efforts, supporting causes that include social justice, food insecurity, youth health and education.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
