NDHP – November 20th 6:56am a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe was parked in lane 1 (left lane) with its overhead amber emergency lights activated. The Tahoe was running traffic control for a tow operator
that was removing a vehicle from the median. While running traffic control the Tahoe was
struck from behind by a Chevrolet Traverse. The Tahoe was pushed into the lane 2 (right) and
the Traverse entered the median.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both vehicles needed to be towed due to disabling damage. The State Trooper was
transported to a local medical facility via another State Trooper for minor injuries.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The North Dakota Highway Patrol would like to take this opportunity to notify drivers to plan
on taking extra time to get to your destination when there is snow and icy conditions.
Remember to buckle up, reduce your speed and increase your following distance. The speed
limits were designed for when roads are in good driving conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
North Dakota has a move over law for emergency vehicles (police, fire, ambulance, DOT and
tow operators). A driver needs to proceed with caution, yield by moving to a lane not
adjacent to the emergency vehicle or if not able to due to safety and traffic conditions, the
driver shall proceed with due caution, reduce the speed of the vehicle, and maintain a safe
