{"id":289046,"date":"2024-12-09T09:12:22","date_gmt":"2024-12-09T15:12:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=289046"},"modified":"2024-12-09T09:12:23","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T15:12:23","slug":"los-angeles-kings-over-the-wild-4-to-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csinewsnow.com\/?p=289046","title":{"rendered":"Los Angeles Kings Over The Wild 4 To 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>LOS ANGELES &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/adrian-kempe-8477960\">Adrian Kempe<\/a>\u00a0had a goal and an assist for the Los Angeles Kings in their fifth straight win, 4-1 against the Minnesota Wild at Crypto.com Arena on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/trevor-moore-8479675\">Trevor Moore<\/a>&nbsp;scored two empty-net goals for the Kings (16-8-3).&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/darcy-kuemper-8475311\">Darcy Kuemper<\/a>&nbsp;made 22 saves in his first start since Nov. 13 after missing seven games with a lower-body injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe like the challenge of playing against top teams,\u201d Kuemper said. \u201cYou know you have to be at your best. You need everybody, so those are fun as a group, and good measuring sticks. We consider ourselves a top team, so when we play against those teams, we feel like we got a lot of prove. And I think we did a great job with it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/yakov-trenin-8478508\">Yakov Trenin<\/a>&nbsp;scored, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/marc-andre-fleury-8470594\">Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a>&nbsp;made 30 saves for the Wild (18-5-4), who had won five in a row and were coming off a 5-1 win at the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI thought we competed hard and definitely had our fair share of chances,\u201d Minnesota defenseman&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/zach-bogosian-8474567\">Zach Bogosian<\/a>&nbsp;said. \u201cWe compete right through to the very end, so I think in the long run that will pay off for us, knowing that no matter what we\u2019re going to compete right to the end of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kempe gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead at 19:17 of the first period, putting the puck in with his skate at the top of the crease after Fleury made a kick save on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/anze-kopitar-8471685\">Anze Kopitar<\/a>\u2019s shot from the top of the right circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/alex-laferriere-8482155\">Alex Laferriere<\/a>&nbsp;made it 2-0 at 8:33 of the second period with a wrist shot from the left circle on the power play. It was the forwards 12th goal through 27 games this season, matching his total in 81 games as a rookie in 2023-24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no secret that some of our players haven\u2019t scored as much as they\u2019re used to, as much as they expected and we expected,\u201d Kings coach Jim Hiller said. \u201cSo, somebody has to fill the void, and \u2018Laf\u2019 has done that for us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kings forward&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/phillip-danault-8476479\">Phillip Danault<\/a>&nbsp;made two effort plays to keep the puck in the zone before screening Fleury on Laferriere\u2019s third goal in the past four games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo set the whole thing up, Phil made an unbelievable screen there,\u201d Laferriere said. \u201cWe talked kind of right before the face-off on where he thought that I walked to shoot, and I told him far side. It\u2019s hard to beat goalies clean in the NHL, and especially goalies of that caliber.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore pushed it to 3-0 at 18:06 of the third with an empty-net goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trenin answered with a one-timer below the left circle off&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/jon-merrill-8475750\">Jon Merrill<\/a>\u2019s pass off the end boards to cut it to 3-1 at 18:47, but Moore got his second goal at 18:55 for the 4-1 final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think that we had the push in the third, we didn\u2019t capitalize,\u201d Wild coach John Hynes said. \u201cWe capitalized late, but we had other opportunities to be able to do it. \u2026 We just didn\u2019t get rewarded for the effort we put in in the third.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wild forward&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/kirill-kaprizov-8478864\">Kirill Kaprizov<\/a>&nbsp;had his three-game goal streak and five-game point streak end, and the first line of Kaprizov,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/marco-rossi-8482079\">Marco Rossi<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/matt-boldy-8481557\">Matt Boldy<\/a>&nbsp;were a combined minus-9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey definitely have dangerous players,\u201d Kuemper said. \u201cIf you try to defend them 1-on-1, it\u2019s pretty hard on guys, so I think we did a great job of working together, having layers and support on top players like him [Kaprizov]. We\u2019ve been doing a good job of it all year. There\u2019s a lot of good players in this League, and obviously he\u2019s at the very tippy top.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTES:<\/strong>&nbsp;Kopitar played his 1,400th NHL game and 700th home game.
