University winning 5-4 on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday.<br><br><strong>FRIDAY<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><strong>Final Score:<\/strong>&nbsp;Jamestown 5, Midland 4&nbsp;<br><strong>Location:<\/strong>&nbsp;Sidner&nbsp;Ice Arena, Fremont, Neb.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><strong>Records:<\/strong>&nbsp;Jamestown 18-6-0-1, Midland 13-14-0-0&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>At the 5:01 mark of the first period,&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/mario-decapite\/17449\">Mario DeCapite<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;scored on&nbsp;a rebound goal as the Jimmies took&nbsp;a 1-0 lead.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/jordan-baranesky\/17443\">Jordan Baranesky<\/a><\/dfn>, and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/matthew-poole\/17463\">Matthew Poole<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;got the assists.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Near&nbsp;the end of the first period at the 18:48 mark,&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/brad-fortin\/17451\">Brad Fortin<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;scored&nbsp;his 16th goal of the season and became the Jimmies&#8217; all-time point leader.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/griffin-bourassa\/17444\">Griffin Bourassa<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;made&nbsp;a nice drop pass as Fortin walked&nbsp;in from the top of the circle and ripped the puck&nbsp;far side, beating the Midland goaltender. Bourassa, and James Hooten assisted on the goal.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>With back-to-back goals from Midland putting the Jimmies on their heels,&nbsp;Baranesky made&nbsp;a nice move off the wall, sliding one past the Warrior&nbsp;goaltender to give&nbsp;the Jimmies a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/chase-visser\/17466\">Chase Visser<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;got credit for the assist.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Goals at the 4:24 and 7:00 minute mark of the third period helped&nbsp;the Warriors take a 4-3 lead, again forcing the Jimmies to fight back in&nbsp;the game.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>After some back-and-forth action from both teams,&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/kole-christensson\/17446\">Kole Christensson<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;found&nbsp;the back of the net with a power play goal, tying the game once again at the 11:24 mark of the third period.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/li><li>Nearing the end of the third period, Daruis Makse made&nbsp;a nice stretch pass to&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/jacob-thomas\/17465\">Jacob Thomas<\/a><\/dfn>, who scored a five-hole goal, his fourth of the year, putting the Jimmies ahed with under four minutes left.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The Warriors put pressure on the Jimmies trying to get the equalizer, but goaltender&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/brandon-weare\/17469\">Brandon Weare<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;came&nbsp;up big and made some timely saves, helping the Jimmies hang on to a &nbsp;5-4 win.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>MD1 University of Jamestown 5 at MD1 Midland University 4 &#8211; Status: Final&nbsp;<br>Friday, January 17, 2025 &#8211; Sidner Ice Arena (NE)&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>MD1 University of Jamestown 2 1 2 &#8211; 5&nbsp;<br>MD1 Midland University 0 2 2 &#8211; 4&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>1st Period-1, MD1 University of Jamestown, Decapite 4 (Baranesky, Poole), 5:01. 2, MD1 University of Jamestown, Fortin 16 (Bourassa, Hooten), 18:48. Assisting on the goal were&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/carter-johnson\/17454\">Carter Johnson<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/chase-visser\/17466\">Chase Visser<\/a><\/dfn>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Down 3-2 entering&nbsp;the third period, UJ looked for some momentum to complete the comeback. A&nbsp;great play by&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/philippe-lessard\/17456\">Philippe Lessard<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;at the offensive blue line led to a pass to&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/darius-makse\/17459\">Darius Makse<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;and he scored&nbsp;his 14th of the year to tie the game at 3-3.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Riding the wave of momentum, the Jimmies scored with just 1:46 left in the third.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"https:\/\/jimmiepride.com\/sports\/mens-ice-hockey\/roster\/jacob-thomas\/17465\">Jacob Thomas<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;capitalized on the power play and&nbsp;picked up his second game-winning goal of the weekend as the Jimmies took a 4-3 lead.
