JAMESTOWN ND May 21 2025 <\/strong>\u2014 Jamestown Regional Medical Center has been recognized by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) as a Center of Excellence in Surgical Safety: Smoke Evacuation, earning the prestigious Go Clear\u2122 Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Go Clear\u2122 Award recognizes facilities that have successfully completed AORN\u2019s comprehensive, evidence-based program focused on eliminating the dangerous hazards of surgical smoke. Surgical smoke is produced during laser and electrosurgical procedures and can contain toxic chemicals, viruses and bacteria that threaten the health of surgical staff and patients alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeing the only facility in the state with a fully smoke-free operating room (OR) is a reflection of our proactive investment in patient and staff health, and a clear indication of our leadership in surgical safety,\u201d said JRMC Surgery Manager Rhea Miller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JRMC plans to extend their smoke-free initiative to its OB-GYN department in the coming year. This proactive step ensures that women undergoing clinical procedures will benefit from the same rigorous safety protocols and air quality standards already in place in the main OR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
