Her new degree permits Marrufo to step into the role of exercise physiologist, joining Sydney Klompien and Madeline Ranum.

“Arianna’s completion of this degree expands JRMC’s ability to offer continuous, high-quality cardiac rehab services,” said Jillian Hildebrandt, JRMC’s clinical support manager. “Having her on staff as an additional exercise physiologist allows us the opportunity to increase the reach and impact of the Good Medicine program.”

Marrufo began her time at JRMC as a cardiac rehab intern before transitioning into a cardiopulmonary assistant role. As an exercise physiologist, she will play a primary role in delivering care to patients recovering from significant cardiac or pulmonary events. Cardiac rehabilitation helps patients build healthy lifestyle habits —considered the second stage of treatment following such events. With additional staff, JRMC’s cardiopulmonary department will be able to treat and reach more patients in the Jamestown region.

Marrufo’s new role also strengthens JRMC’s collaboration with the Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) through the Good Medicine program. Good Medicine welcomes participants at any stage in their wellness journey, including those who have completed cardiac or pulmonary rehab. Hosted at TRAC and supervised by JRMC’s exercise physiologists, the program is designed to help individuals maintain long-lasting, healthy habits with the social benefit of accountability.

“My favorite thing about this program is seeing patients progress and watching people regain strength and confidence,” said Marrufo.

JRMC’s cardiopulmonary program is the only one of its kind in Jamestown, offering care for patients throughout the region. A physician referral is required to receive cardiopulmonary services at JRMC.
